Main Street Sports names Norby Williamson President of Production & Programming

Main Street Sports Group is expanding its senior leadership team with the appointment of former ESPN exec Norby Williamson as President of Production & Programming, effective January 13. Williamson will be responsible for overseeing live productions for NBA, NHL and MLB events, as well as original programming for FanDuel Sports Network’s 16 RSNs. Williamson’s career at ESPN stretched nearly 40 years, beginning in the mailroom in 1985. His most recent title was Executive Editor & Head of Event and Studio Production. His duties at Main Street Sports Group will include pre-game, game and post-game strategy and innovation, along with managing operations and content across linear and digital platforms. Williamson will report to Main Street Sports Group CEO David Preschlack. The moves follows Main Street Sports’ rebrand from Diamond Sports Group after emerging from its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings (SBJ).

DENVER – The University of Denver volleyball team has announced its 2025 Summit League schedule for the upcoming season. 

The Pioneers will host eight home league matches in Hamilton Gymnasium beginning on September 27 and ending the regular season on the road on November 15.

TUCSON, Ariz. – The NCAA released the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) through the 2023-24 academic year and Arizona Athletics had 10 programs earn a perfect single-year score of 1,000, which continues the legacy of supporting student-athletes in the classroom as well as in competition.  
 
Soccer, women’s cross country and men’s basketball all earned the Public Recognition Award after finishing in the top 10% of their sport. It’s the second time men’s basketball has received honor (2013-14) while it’s the first time for both Soccer and Women’s Cross Country. 
 
The teams that posted a perfect single year score in 2023-24 include Men’s Basketball, Women’s Golf, Gymnastics, Soccer, Softball, Men’s Swimming and Diving, Women’s Tennis, Women’s Cross Country, Beach Volleyball and Triathlon.  
 
Arizona had 12 programs set or tied program records for single-season APR:  

Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Football, Women’s Golf, Gymnastics, Soccer, Softball, Men’s Swimming & Diving, Women’s Tennis, Women’s Cross Country, Beach Volleyball and Triathlon 
 
And five programs set or matched their program record for multi-year APR, including Football, Soccer, Women’s Track and Field, Women’s Cross Country and Triathlon. Men’s Basketball posted it’s highest multi-year APR since 2015 while Gymnastics multi-year score of 995 is tied for the second-best in program history. The Softball team’s multi-year score of 996 is also tied for second-best in program history. 
 
As Men’s tennis was on its way to the Pac-12 Tournament Championship in 2023-24, they were also recording an APR of 993, which is the second-best multi-year score in program history. Women’s Tennis also came close to matching their record, finishing with a multi-year score of 992, just one point shy of their all-time high.

DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis student-athletes elevated themselves in the classroom by posting a cumulative GPA of 3.30 in the winter quarter.

The women’s teams had a combined 3.39 GPA, while all men’s teams combined for a GPA of 3.15.

An impressive 77 student-athletes finished the quarter with a 4.0 GPA, making up 11.92 percent of all student-athletes. 295 student-athletes posted a GPA of 3.5 or higher (45.67 percent), and 464 student-athletes wrapped up their winter quarter with a 3.0 GPA or higher, encompassing 71.83 percent of all student-athletes.

Women’s water polo led all teams with a quarterly team GPA of 3.53, on the men’s side, basketball marked the highest GPA at 3.31.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana Vikings are ready to compete this weekend at the NSIC Outdoor Championships starting Thursday, May 8 through Saturday, May 10 in Duluth, Minnesota.

Combined events begin on Thursday at 1 p.m. continuing through Friday. Friday starts preliminary races at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. will see the start of field events. Saturday will begin at 1 p.m. with running event finals and 10 a.m. with field event finals.

At last year’s conference meet, the Vikings saw multiple NSIC individual champions and several others claiming All-Conference honors. Ella Bakken took first in the 10,000-meter run and is looking to repeat that success at this years conference meet

 

Ryan Hartman was a two-time NSIC Champion in the 1500-meter and 5000-meter run last year. Hartman has seen several top finishes this outdoor season and is ready to show his speed this weekend.

 

Andrew Martens rounds out last year’s NSIC Champions in the 110-meter hurdles. Like Hartman, he has seen several top finishes in his outdoor campaign this season. 

 

There are several Vikings to keep an eye out for at this year’s conference meets including the four relay teams. 

 

Both the men’s and women’s 4×100-meter and 4×400-meter relays teams have seen a couple top-three finishes this season and are looking to keep their top finishes at the conference meet this weekend.

 

A couple members of those relay teams include Lily Juhnke, Nyanus Kur, and Jennifer Noutsougan. All three of these athletes have seen top-five finishes throughout the outdoor season. Juhnke and Noutsougan are seeking success in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. Kur will be doing the same for the 200-meter and 400-meter dash. 

 

For distance runners, Sydnee Serck will be running for a podium finish in the 800-meter dash. Caroline Sudbeck is looking to round out her career with a podium finish in the 800-meter dash and the 1500-meter run. 

 

For field events, Bryn Greenwaldt, an indoor high jump All-American, is after the same title in the outdoor season. She has seen several top-three finishes including two first-place finishes.

UCLA is the winningest men’s volleyball program of all time.

The Bruins have won a record 21 NCAA men’s volleyball championships. They claimed six of the first seven men’s volleyball titles, including the first three in 1970, 1971 and 1972.

Coach Al Scates has won the most men’s titles with 19. Scates was the head coach at UCLA for 50 seasons from 1963-2012. Scates retired in 2012 with a career record of 1,239-290 (.812 win percentage).

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Sky Hagan has been named the Mountain West Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after a first-place finish and personal best at the Fresno State Invitational this past weekend from Veterans Memorial Stadium in Fresno, Calif., as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

  • On the second day of competition, Hagan, competing in the Women’s 100m Hurdles won the event with a new personal best mark of 13.22 seconds.
  • Hagan’s mark now puts her at number 36 in the nation on the NCAA Outdoor Qualifying List for the Women’s 100m Hurdles. 
  • Hagan’s time set a new SJSU All-Time Outdoor Record for the Women’s 100m Hurdles, topping her previous record-setting time of 13.26.
  • This is the fourth time Hagan has lowered a school record this year across both indoor and outdoor seasons. 
  • This is the first time Hagan has won the Mountain West weekly award in her career.
