Entering the final round in ninth place, Trevor improved his standing by four spots, shooting an even-par 70 that included 14 pars Wednesday. Overall, the senior carded 12 birdies over the 54-hole tournament for his first top-five finish since placing fifth for Mizzou at the Golfweek Put Me In Coach Invitational.

Three other Tigers are in action to wrap up the winter season. Virgilio Paz began competition Thursday at the South American Amateur Open in Chile, carding a four-under 68 during the first round to sit in fifth place of 78 golfers.

University of Missouri men’s golf’s Trevor Mierl and Trent Mierl both finished in the top 10 at the Saguaro Amateur on Wednesday to complete a successful winter campaign.

“It was great to have another solid finish to end up the break,” Trent said. “I look forward to the spring season and hope the momentum continues strong for the team in the upcoming tournaments.”

Brock Snyder is also set to compete at the First Coast Amateur from Jan. 18 to 20.

Trevor placed fifth overall with a two-under 208 during the 54-hole tournament (68-70-70), while Trent was one stroke behind with a one-under 209 (67-66-76) to finish in sixth place in the 132-golfer field.

Trent tallied eight birdies in the tournament and added two rounds of bogey-free golf en route to his sixth-place finish. It was the second top 10 of the winter campaign for the freshman as he also won the Coachella Amateur in December.

“I had a great showing this week,” Trevor said. “I’m excited for what’s to come in the spring as I look to carry the momentum into the season!”

Incoming Tiger Esteban Cruz Bonilla opened play on Thursday at the Copa Andalucia with a score of 76 during the first 18 holes of play.

Once the winter season is complete, the Tigers are set to turn their attention toward the spring campaign, which opens when Mizzou heads to Tucson, Arizona, for the National Invitational Tournament, starting on Monday, Feb. 3.
