“To win it was pretty awesome. The 69,000 votes, I give that to my community, they’ve voted all season for me and my teammates, and that’s just a lot of votes,” said Goldsberry. “I was down a couple times I think and my family and a bunch of other people started voting again. I saw it on Facebook, they were just like, ahh, we’re in second, you gotta get back in first and then I think eventually we were up by 10,000. At first I didn’t know it was Sports Illustrated, so that’s really cool to see that I was on there, cuz obviously they had a bunch of newspapers that I looked at when I was younger, looking back at Tom Brady and stuff, so I mean it’s just really cool to be on those papers, and hopefully I can get on there again.”Goldsberry will be a senior, next season, so his recruiting is starting to ramp up. This past week, he had visits from Purdue and Air Force, and he currently has an offer from Kentucky Wesleyan. Exposure, like the award from Sports Illustrated, is certainly something that can help get his name out there, even more.“It’s really cool to be on all these newscasts, newspapers, and online sources cuz it kinda puts our name out there, so it’s just really good to see that everyone’s finally taking a look at Heritage Hills cuz we’re down here in southern Indiana,” said Goldsberry. “Not a lot of people know us, but there are some kids down here that can work and do just as good as anyone else up north – just hoping to get some more offers with my buddy Tyler, Gabe Jackson, and Parker Hart. Hopefully they’ll start rolling in here after the national signing day is over with.”Down in Kentucky, Owensboro Catholic’s Brady Atwell was also nominated for the High School on SI’s player of the year award, in Kentucky, and he finished fifth in the voting, for that award.Heritage Hills quarterback Jett Goldsberry has been named Sports Illustrated’s High School on SI’s Indiana player of the year. Goldsberry was one of eight candidates from different high schools in the Hoosier state, and he won, with just over 50 percent of the votes. In all, Goldsberry received over 69,000 votes. He helped lead the Patriots to the class 3A state title, and his stats were eye-popping. He had over 35-hundred all-purpose yards, with 54 total touchdowns. On defense, he had 58 tackles, three sacks, and one interception.Copyright 2025 WFIE. All rights reserved.LINCOLN CITY, Ind.
