A snowy start to the season

As snow continues to fall across the region, ski resorts surrounding Morgantown are witnessing a boom in visitors, thanks to close to “perfect” conditions and consistent accumulation. The recent snowstorm, which brought heavy snow to the area, has created ideal skiing and snowboarding conditions that are fueling a burst in attendance — both midweek and weekends.

Seven Springs has been working hard to maintain excellent conditions, with the snowmaking team continuing to add to the natural snow. The recent cold temperatures have helped improve the quality of the snow, making it close to perfect for skiing. The resort has also been offering online booking discounts, allowing guests to skip ticket lines and head straight to the lifts, further improving the guest experience.

Thanks to a mix of light powder and consistently cold temperatures, the mountain is in excellent shape, he said. While a few runs are still waiting for a stronger base, the majority of trails are open, and Snowshoe expects to have everything running in the next week or two. With all lifts running smoothly and conditions improving daily, skiers and snowboarders are enjoying longer runs and less crowded slopes.

Seven Springs and Hidden Valley keep the snow coming

Even as more visitors come to Wisp, lift lines have remained minimal due to the mountain’s extensive layout. The resort is continuing to offer discounts for those booking in advance, making it easier for guests to plan their trip and save money. “The excitement is contagious, and people are showing up in droves to experience the great conditions,” a marketing rep said. “We’ve had an increase in traffic, but with all our lifts open and terrain spread across different sections of the mountain, the experience has been seamless.”

Over at Snowshoe Resort in West Virginia, the snowstorm has pushed the resort’s snowfall totals to an impressive 110 inches for the season, with more than 40 inches accumulating just in the past week alone. This has had a huge impact on visitor numbers, with even midweek visits seeing increased attendance. “It’s the best snow I’ve seen in my years here,” said Snowshoe’s marketing director, Shawn Cassell. “We’re seeing an influx of guests during the week as people want to take advantage of these incredible conditions.”

Hidden Valley Resort, also in Pennsylvania, is seeing similar success. With 80% of their terrain open and the snow continuing to fall, visitors are flocking to the slopes in increasing numbers. The combination of fresh snow, efficient snowmaking, and smooth roads has made it easy for guests to visit the mountain and enjoy the conditions.

With nearly 58 inches of snow already accumulated this season, Wisp Resort in Maryland is experiencing one of its busiest periods in years. The resort has 22 slopes open, with 70% of the mountain now accessible for skiing and snowboarding. While the resort’s snowmaking efforts have been working at full capacity, it is the recent natural snowfall that has truly transformed the conditions. “The conditions are absolutely amazing right now,” Wisp’s marketing team said. With all lifts operational and new trails opening daily, skiers and snowboarders are finding plenty of space to enjoy the fresh powder.

In Pennsylvania, Seven Springs Resort has also seen a boom in attendance with the recent snowstorms. Over the past week alone, the resort has received more than 2 feet of snow, bringing total snowfall for the season to levels not seen in several years. With 90% of the mountain now open, skiers and snowboarders have been taking full advantage of the snow-covered terrain, and the excitement is visible.
