Every run might not be open yet but the new terrain park is.”It’s always nice to have a little new snow and it makes everything look really beautiful but as you can see we have plenty of snow,” Mt. Crescent Ski Area Site Manager Chris Andrew says, “we make our own and skiing and snowboarding on our man made snow is just as good.”

Local skiers like Addison Bull hit the slopes today and agree with that statement.

“A little windy, a little cold, but if you want to ski you better be used to this weather,” Bull said. “It’s not too bad.”They are making more than enough snow to go around. Hundreds of people taking down the different trails, taking the ski lift up as well as coming down enjoying the time, again no snow but that is not affecting the good times here at Mt. “Over the next couple of days we’ll be able to fire up our machines over night and possibly during the day,” Andrew said, “and just keep increasing our base and possibly adding more terrain and then getting close to opening 100%.”
“December 15th is our opening day and we’ve been doing great,” Andrew said. “Yesterday was actually one of our busiest days of the year.””It feels good, it surprising, it’s my first time out here this year but the snow feels good,” Bull said. “I’m happy with what they’ve done with the place.”Despite the lack of real snow, business is booming.A lot of the snow-making magic is thanks to this snow-making pond on site at Mt. Crescent. That mixed with cold temperatures overnight allows for Mt. Crescent to be 100% self-sustaining.Snowfall may be light but the weather is not. It’s still winter. And you feel every bit of winter out on Mt. Crescent.”It does a lot for the kids you know,” terrain park builder Mark Shoemaker said. “People that see these snowboarding videos and what not and they don’t really have you know the opportunity to hit jumps or rails or whatever they see in the videos, now the local mountain has something for them to do.”
