Multiple sources informed HighSchoolOT that he was officially hired by the Randolph County school on Friday afternoon.The Tigers have appeared in three N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A state championship games and won all three in a blowout. It happened over three consecutive seasons from 1981-83. Randleman also made the 2AA East regional final in 2019. That year, the Tigers lost to Salisbury in a 14-7 game.Burns hired the younger Diamont in the summer of 2022. The Bulldogs have finished with records of 12-2, 8-4, and 8-4 since then. Burns averaged 42.3 points per game in 2022, 44.9 in 2023, and 36.8 in 2024 while installing a new quarterback.With an average daily membership of 868 students this school year, Randleman is set to become a 4A program once the NCHSAA realigns into eight classifications later this year. In the second draft of new potential conferences released by the NCHSAA, Randleman was placed in a 4A/5A league with fellow 4As Central Davidson, Ledford, Lexington, and T.W. Andrews as well as 5As High Point Central and Montgomery Central. This conference proposal is still subject to change following the next period of appeals.
Diamont is replacing Shane Timmons, who led the Randleman program since the spring 2021 season. Timmons’ Tigers teams produced a combined record of 37-17 and made the playoffs in all five of his seasons.
