COOPERSTOWN — A week that started with a sectional dual meet championship for the Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves ended with a league tournament championship Saturday in Cooperstown’s Red Bursey Gymnasium.Eight Timberwolves reached the finals of their weight classes at the nine-team Center States League tournament and two earned individual title.Senior Landon Andrade repeated as the 285-pound champion while Drew Telesky, seventh-grader in his first varsity season, won at 101, the other end of high school wrestling’s weight class spectrum.

Andrade, Telesky, Mason, Moore and Aiden Kiehn, Saturday’s third-place finisher at 190 pounds, all went unbeaten at the sectional duals at the start of the week.Jackson Moore (108 pounds), Noah Ackerman (131), Trenton Anderson (138), Cameron Mason (145), Justin Race (152) and Nick Miller (170) were the other Sherburne-Earlville finalists.

Canastota’s Keeran Timerman won the 190-pound title, and Cooperstown’s Max Koffer won at 124.Sherburne-Earlville accumulated 301 team points with only Adirondack (224) finishing within 100 of the top spot. Canastota, Cooperstown/Milford and Little Falls, runner-up from Section III’s Division II dual meet tournament Monday in Watertown, rounding out the top five spots. Morrisville-Eaton had been the runner-up to Sherburne-Earlville last year.
The state dual meet championship tournament is scheduled for Saturday at SRC Arena on the Syracuse campus of Onondaga Community College. Section III’s class tournaments are the following weekend: Class AA at Jamesville-DeWitt, Class A at Fulton, Class B at Mexico Academy, Class C at General Brown, and Class D at Little Falls.In addition to Sherburne-Earlville, Adirondack, Dolgeville and Little Falls all had multiple individual champions Saturday. Seth Strain, Cole Croniser, Braden White, Evan Williams and Mason Sturtevant won titles at 108, 116, 152, 170 and 215 pounds as Adirondack’s finalists went 5-0 in the championship round. Bryce Mosher and Grayson Eggleston, the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler, won back-to-back at 145 and 152 pounds for Dolgeville, and brothers Nate and Matt Verri were the 131- and 160-pound champions for Little Falls.
Croniser and Eggleston are four-time league champions, while Mosher won his third title. Nate Verri, Timerman and White joined Andrade, Coniser, Eggleston and Mosher as repeat winners from the 2024 tournament at Morrisville-Eaton, and Matt Verri was an individual winner in 2023 at Adirondack.
