
CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 4 University of North Georgia (UNG) women’s tennis team opened the 2025 NCAA Southeast Regional with a 4-0 win over No. 29 Georgia College at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility in Clemson, S.C.
The second-seeded Nighthawks have now advanced to the Round of 32 in eight straight postseasons. With the victory over the seventh-seeded Bobcats, UNG will face third-seeded and No. 9 Columbus State (CSU) with a chance to punch its ticket to the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship for the second consecutive season.
Monday’s win occurred on the campus of Clemson University at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility after the team at Clemson graciously offered the use of their facility to avoid inclement weather in the Dahlonega area.
The Nighthawks opened Monday’s match with a doubles victory to take an early 1-0 lead.
Junior Emily Bush and freshman Linn Goerdes dominated the #2 doubles match for a 6-1 victory, opening the door for senior Ashley Moinard and freshman Vasilissa Kupriyanova to clinch the doubles with their own 6-1 win.
Onto singles the match went and it did not take long for UNG to secure another point.
Kupriyanova rolled past her opponent for a 6-1, 6-1 triumph and the 11th singles victory of her freshman season.
Then, senior and Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) women’s singles No. 2 Angelina Linnikova made more program history in the #1 singles match.
Linnikova raced past Chiara Santoro in 6-2, 6-1 win, marking her 22nd singles victory this year. The Irkutsk, Russia native is now 22-0 this season, tying the record for the most singles victories in one year which she tied last season with a 22-4 individual record.
Linnikova has now won 60 singles matches in the last three years at UNG. Earlier this season she surpassed the program’s all-time singles wins record. She holds a staggering 60-6 record in singles matches in a Nighthawk uniform.
After the victory in #1 singles, UNG was ahead 3-0 in the match and one win away from advancing to the next round.
Senior Carolina Reis pushed the Nighthawks through to the Round of 32 with her eighth singles win of the season in a 6-2, 6-2 fashion over Natalie Kirka.
Reis and UNG will now gear up to face Peach Belt Conference rival CSU in the Round of 32 on Tuesday, May 13 at 11 a.m. The Nighthawks are 2-0 against the Cougars this year with a pair of thrilling 4-3 victories already.
CLEMSON, S.C. – The ninth-ranked Columbus State University women’s tennis team made quick work of No. 42 Lees-McRae College, rolling to a 4-0 sweep on Monday in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility in Clemson, S.C.
Columbus State (16-6) jumped out to an early lead over the Bobcats (18-6) with a clean sweep in doubles play. The pairing of Isadora Oliveira and Laura Pesickova dominated on court two with 6-1 win to open play. Annie Adams and Majra Djokic notched a 6-3 victory on court three and Nikoline Gullacksen and Mariana Ramirez finished with a 6-2 win at the top spot for the 1-0 lead.
The Lady Cougars continued their dominance in singles action, needing just three matches to secure the team win. Sofia Lauretti led the way with a swift 6-0, 6-3 rout over Anita Ivanova at the fourth line of singles for the two-point edge. Oliveira boosted the CSU advantage to 3-0 in the fifth spot, downing Alexa Mazzei 6-2, 6-2. Pesickova clinched the match at the third position, handling Lina Ngassi Saqout in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
With the match clinched, play was halted on courts one, two, and six.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 8 (ITA Division II Top 25) Flagler College tennis team defeated No. 19 Wingate University 4-0 this evening at the Wake Forest University Indoor Tennis Center in a NCAA Division II preliminary round women’s tennis match.
Flagler improved to 20-5 overall.This is the second meeting between the Saints and Bulldogs this season. During the ITA Indoor Championship, the Saints defeated then No. 8 Bulldogs, 4-2. Wingate closed out their season with a 17-6 record. Tomorrow the Saints will play No. 6 Catawba College at 12 p.m.
The Saints took a hard-fought doubles point to give themselves an early edge. No. 3-ranked Dana Heimen and Anastasia Nikolova took the first win of the day against Chloe Kosmrlj and Daniela Kotara, 6-3. A loss on court three set up a tense match between Laura Jipescu and Adela Latalova against Suzuka Sambyakugari and Claudia Vallejos. Going into a 6-6 tiebreak, the Saints were down 5-3 but made a crucial four point rally to win the set 7-6 (7-5).
In singles the Saints remained dominant. No. 40 Anastasia Nikolova took the first win against Castillo Fernanda 6-1 and 6-2. Eryka Kruk followed immediately after, taking her match against Vallejos 6-2 and 6-1. The sealing match came from No. 8 Heimen against Kosmrlj, 7-5 and 6-3.
Prior to the stoppage, Sofia Balsera won her first set 6-1 and was leading 1-0 in set two against Gigi Hinson. Jipescu was up 4-1 against Mariia Bobrovska and Latalova was in the third set of her match against Sambyakugari.
