Beginning with the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Motor Speedway on May 25, five NASCAR Cup Series races will be shown exclusively on a streaming service for the first time in NASCAR history.

Prime Video will broadcast the Coca-Cola 600, Nashville, Michigan, Mexico City and Pocono in a stretch of races from May 25 to June 22.

Joining lap-by-lap announcer Adam Alexander and former crew chief Steve Letarte in the broadcast booth for Prime Video’s coverage will be NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr., who returns to the booth after a one-year absence.

Earnhardt Jr. was a color commentator for NBC from 2018-23, and joins both Prime Video and Turner Sports for a total of 10 races this season.

As fans prepare to switch over to Prime Video to watch Cup Series racing, Earnhardt Jr. expects the transition to be a relatively easy one.

“I don’t know that it’s going to be that big of a transition (for fans),” Earnhardt Jr. said in a virtual news conference on Wednesday. “It’ll probably happen pretty seamlessly and quick.”

In 2022, Prime Video became the exclusive home of “Thursday Night Football.” Earnhardt Jr. says the “TNF” broadcasts are a good representation of what fans can expect from the streaming service’s maiden voyage of NASCAR coverage.

“I would say you can look at the ‘Thursday Night Football’ coverage, and all the bells and whistles,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “That would be a good way to look at how Amazon’s race coverage might look and how it might differ somewhat.”

“At the same time, there will be a lot of things that are very traditional – a three-man booth, the faces you may see. There will be some things that will be expected, but there will be some new technology to show some data and information for our fans that are watching.”

In a similar fashion to how the CW covered the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs in anticipation of every Xfinity Series race being televised on the CW in 2025, Prime Video has given fans a similar opportunity to get familiar with the service. Aside from the Clash, Daytona 500 and the upcoming All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro, Prime Video has been the carrier for Cup Series practice and qualifying through the first 12 races while using Fox Sports’ broadcast talent and production.

Prime Video will continue to cover practice and qualifying for the Cup Series during its five-race stretch of races.

“I’m excited about (the broadcast),” Earnhardt Jr. said. “I think all of the networks push each other to put good products out on Sunday. Amazon will bring some really cool ideas and ways of approaching the sport that will be better. I’m grateful to be a part of that team.”

22-year-old to make drafting track debut in October

STATESVILLE, N.C. (July 8, 2025) – Motorsports Business Management (MBM Motorsports) and Tyler Tomassi have paired up once again for a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entry in the Love’s RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday, October 17.

The 22-year-old Rhode Island native drove one of his best NASCAR races to date on the 2.5-mile Tricky Triangle in Pocono, securing his second-career Top 25 finish. Now he will have his first opportunity to tackle a drafting superspeedway this fall back behind the wheel of the No. 69 MBM Ford F-150.

“I am thrilled to drive in my first ever superspeedway race! Talladega has been on my bucket list to experience my whole life as a NASCAR fan. Now, not only do I get to go to this renowned track, I get to go there as a driver,” said an excited Tomassi. “I can’t thank Carl Long and the entire MBM group enough for everything. Let’s get it!”

MBM Motorsports team owner Carl Long fielded the Floridian Motorsports No. 21 truck at this track last year, an entry that Mason Maggio drove inside the Top 3 and earned a Top 20 finish. Long knows how to coach up a young driver coming to a superspeedway early in their career.

“Tyler showed us a lot at Pocono, and I am proud that our MBM team gets to field him in his first Talladega attempt. Superspeedway racing is a unique skill set that takes both talent and luck to get right. We are working hard to give Tyler everything he needs to have a great run,” said Long.

MBM has yet to finalize the primary sponsor of the No. 69 truck for the 85 racing laps around the 2.66-mile superspeedway.

FOX Sports 1 has live television coverage of the Love’s RV Stop 225 on Friday, October 17, beginning at 4 pm ET.

NASCAR’s tournament heats up Chicago action | The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

CHICAGO — NASCAR’s first in-season tournament hasn’t made much of an impression on its drivers so far. Ty Gibbs said Sunday he didn’t know who his second-round opponent was until after the Cup Series race.

That might be about to change.

Gibbs is one of eight drivers still in the mix for the $1 million prize that goes to the winner of the five-race, bracket-style competition. While Shane van Gisbergen was closing out his Cup victory in Chicago this weekend, some of the most compelling action on the downtown street course was at least connected to the inaugural In-Season Challenge.

Alex Bowman and Bubba Wallace raced each other hard in the final laps after they tangled in Chicago last year. Bowman got the better of the head-to-head matchup, finishing eighth and eliminating Wallace from the tournament.

After the 2024 Chicago street race, Wallace was fined $50,000 for slamming his door into a victorious Bowman during his celebration. Bowman had clipped Wallace on Lap 25, sending him spinning into the wall of that race.

John Hunter Nemechek was 15th, one spot better than his opponent, Chase Elliott. Gibbs had a strong day and finished second, good enough to beat AJ Allmendinger in sixth. Ty Dillon, Tyler Reddick, Ryan Preece, Zane Smith and Erik Jones also moved on.

The 14th-seeded Smith upset No. 3 seed Chris Buescher by finishing 14th. He is matched up with Gibbs for Sunday’s road race at Sonoma.

“I hate we had to knock another Ford out, but it’s super cool to advance,” Smith said.

With the in-season tournament — part of a new media rights deal that includes TNT — NASCAR is following in the footsteps of the NBA and soccer leagues around the world. After Sonoma this weekend, it concludes with races at Dover and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Bowman said the tournament wasn’t on his mind as he battled with Wallace at the end in Chicago. Whatever the reason for the contact, their head-to-head matchup certainly added a bit of intrigue to the racing behind van Gisbergen’s victory.

With the money involved and the field trimmed to eight drivers, there could be more moments like the duel between Bowman and Wallace in the final weeks of the challenge.

“I wasn’t expecting that to happen or to get raced like that, but we did,” Bowman said. “We just have to move on from it and keep digging.”

It sure sounds as if Dillon is enjoying the competition. Dillon, the No. 32 seed, eliminated Brad Keselowski on Sunday after he upset top-seeded Denny Hamlin at Atlanta on June 28.

There was absolutely no drama in Dillon’s win after Keselowski was collected in an early crash that began with Carson Hocevar hitting the wall and spinning out between Turns 10 and 11. Hocevar was eliminated by Reddick.

“I’m just so proud of Kaulig Racing and our No. 10 team,” Dillon said. “I knew in a basketball city, going up against Brad in a game of knockout, I was going to have a good chance.”

Dillon takes on Bowman and Preece faces Reddick in the next round. But the most interesting contest just might be Nemechek versus Jones in a matchup of Legacy Motor Club teammates.

“I felt like if we could have gotten through the first round, these next two rounds are really good for us,” Preece said. “Our road course program is pretty strong, and we keep making it better. So going into Sonoma, I think we’re up against Tyler Reddick, so he’s really good at road courses as well, but I like being the underdog.”

Data from last week’s Chicago Street Race will help the NASCAR Cup Series field this weekend at Sonoma Raceway, as they will race on the same Goodyear Racing Eagle tires. Sonoma is the fourth road course race of the season with all three previous races utilizing the same tire setup.

This is the only time this season that NASCAR will visit road courses on back-to-back weekends.

“Last week’s Chicago race on the same Goodyear Racing Eagle tires should help the Cup Series teams in their Sonoma preparations,” said Stu Grant, Goodyear general manager of global race tires. “With consecutive road course races – and the Mexico City race just a few weeks before – teams should have a solid dataset to help dial in their setups.”

The Xfinity Series will move to a different Eagle tire after running the first three road courses on the same tire. Teams will use a different tire code starting at Sonoma due to a minor tread compound update.

Both series will have wet weather tires available in the case of inclement weather. In addition to the difference in tread pattern, these tires feature white “Goodyear Eagle” lettering on the sidewalls instead of the traditional yellow.

MTS US, an Italian-based motorsport training school that opened in Indianapolis in May, celebrated its first graduating class June 29.

Ten students from Indiana, North Carolina, New York and Wisconsin received diplomas during a ceremony at the MTS Training Center, 4007 Guion Lane, including 21-year-old Ryley Lynch, a Hamilton Southeastern High School graduate.

According to a MTS announcement, Lynch soon will start a new job with Graham Rahal Performance, where he’ll work on high-performance vehicles like Porsche and Lamborghini.

“I’ve always loved motorsports, but it seemed like a hard industry to break into,” Lynch stated. “MTS gave me the only real opportunity I’ve seen to do it. The people I got to learn from —some of them I never imagined I’d even meet in my lifetime, let alone work with side by side.”

MTS US offers hands-on training for aspiring race mechanics and data engineers. Founded by professional driver and racing team manager Eugenia Capanna, MTS prepares students for careers with teams in F1, MotoGP, IndyCar and other top racing series.

“Since opening our doors in Indianapolis, we’ve dreamed of this moment — seeing our very first group of students cross the finish line,” Capanna stated. “Their hard work, resilience and commitment have set the standard for every class that will follow. They are not just graduates — they are the foundation of our legacy in the Racing Capital of the World.”

Applications are open for the next cohort, which begins Aug. 22. MTS expects to enroll 15 to 30 students in the mechanical program and five to 10 in its data engineering track.
