LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Missouri track and field’s Kristi Perez-Snyman collected the program’s first conference women’s high jump title after recording a school-record result of 1.90m (6-2.75) on day two of the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at UK Track and Field Complex on Friday.
Perez-Snyman earns the ninth individual SEC outdoor title in women’s program history and the second in as many years, following Euphenie Andre’s 2024 title in triple jump. The Tigers’ women’s team stands in sixth with 25 points after the second day of action.
“Kristi competed very strong today,” jumps coach Iliyan Chamov said. “We are not surprised by the outcome, as she has been showing consistency at practice and the result was expected. I’m very proud of her and her professionalism.”
Claudina Diaz also tallied points for the women, taking fifth in high jump with a result of 1.84m (6-0.5) to garner an additional four points. Perez-Snyman’s result earned 10 points for the Black & Gold.
Elijah Limo and Joshua Allison added to the men’s team’s point total for the meet with their finishes in the 3000m steeplechase. Limo’s personal-best time of 8:52.38 earned fifth place and four points, while Allison’s seventh-place finish in 8:56.13 gave the Tigers two points. The men head into the final day of action in 11th with 12 points.

Minnesota AD says Gophers have $8.75M deficit after House settlement

Coyle’s presentation included a slide about new men’s basketball coach Niko Medved, who replaced Ben Johnson in a coaching change after the season. The Gophers are banking on Medved’s arrival sparking more success on the court and thus renewed excitement around the program to help improve sagging ticket sales.
That alone won’t be enough to offset new revenue-sharing costs.
Universities across the country are searching for creative solutions while also making difficult choices in incorporating athlete compensation into their budgets. Even leaders of the wealthiest athletic departments are grappling with this expense.
“Everybody is having the same stressful conversations,” Coyle said.
Eliminating more sports programs is not included in his conversations, Coyle said. In 2020, he dropped men’s gymnastics, men’s tennis and men’s indoor track and field. Coyle said cost savings tied to that decision helped prepare for the House settlement, but he added: “I don’t want to go through that again. I think we’re at the right sports offerings right now.”
His plan includes belt-tightening on budgets, an uptick in media rights revenue distribution from the Big Ten and a new student fee. Coyle said he began preparing for this financial eventuality a few years ago.

Reports: Clippers the favorite to sign Bradley Beal – Field Level Media – Professional sports content solutions

The Los Angeles Clippers are emerging as the favorite to land Bradley Beal once the guard is expected to hit free agency, according to two reports Tuesday.
NBC Sports and The Athletic both reported that the three-time All Star is likely to land in Los Angeles, should the Phoenix Suns buy out his contract as expected.
Last week, the Arizona Republic reported that the 32-year-old could be bought out of the final two years of his contract, with the team and player already discussing terms.
Beal has nearly $111 million remaining on his contract, per Spotrac.
The Clippers trading away Norman Powell — as part of a deal to bring in John Collins — was seen as “a precursor to the Beal signing,” NBC Sports reported. The team still wants a sharpshooting ball-handler to play alongside James Harden.
Beal signed a five-year, $251 million deal with a no-trade clause in July 2022 when he was still with the Washington Wizards. The Suns acquired Beal in June 2023, trading multiple draft assets in exchange.
According to The Athletic, the Clippers can offer Beal up to $5.3 million in salary this season.
“The work’s not done. We still have a lot of work to do, but I think we’re moving in the right direction to give this group a chance to be better than we were last year,” Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank said following the Collins-Powell trade.
Beal has also considered joining the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks, per The Athletic.
A former No. 3 overall draft pick, Beal has been limited to 53 games in each of his two seasons with the Suns, and he has not played as many as 60 games in any season since 2020-21.
Beal averaged 17.0 points, 3.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 53 games (38 starts) last season. He has career averages of 21.5 points, 4.3 assists and 4.1 rebounds in 801 games (752 starts) with the Wizards and Suns.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Capping off a remarkable collegiate career blended with elite athletic performance and academic excellence, Loyola University Chicago’s Parker Van Buren has been named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® At-Large First Team, selected by CSC members. The prestigious award marks the program’s first CSC Academic All-American since Peter Jasaitis made the third team in 2014, and its first-ever first teamer in Van Buren.
After earning his spot on the CSC Academic All-District team earlier this summer, alongside juniors Brad Bell and Ryan McElligott, Van Buren was the sole men’s volleyball student-athlete selected to the First Team, and one of two volleyball players on the Academic All-America At-Large Division I Team.
The Cross Plains, Wis. native graduated as one of the most decorated student-athletes in Loyola history. As a two-time MIVA Player of the Year and MBA graduate, Van Buren finished his academic career with a 3.96 GPA while leading the Ramblers to their fourth MIVA Tournament Championship and first NCAA Tournament berth since 2015.
Van Buren started in all but one match for Loyola this season, posting a career-best .403 hitting percentage. He led the team and the MIVA in kills (435), averaging 4.39 per set, and in service aces (47 total). His performances elevated him to third in the Ramblers’ all-time kills list with 1,647 as well as the third all-time ace leader with 135.
Van Buren’s selection to the CSC Academic All-America First Team places him among the nation’s top scholar-athletes, recognizing his dedication and leadership throughout his Loyola career.

WASHINGTON – The College Sports Communicators organization annually recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. Sophomore sprinter Lorelei Bangit is adding another accolade to her career having earned Academic All-District team recognition.
Earlier this spring, Bangit was honored to the Outdoor Track Academic All-Patriot League team for the second time. Combining honors for indoor and outdoor track, Bangit has so far been honored twice as a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection as well.
At the Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May, Bangit earned silver in the 400 in a program-best 54.00 seconds, smashing the record she herself set the previous day in prelims. She broke her own school records four times over the course of the two day meet–twice each in the 400m and 200m dashes. She came back to place fourth in the 200m finals in 24.21 seconds. Bangit then anchored the women’s 4x100m relay team that earned a bronze, third-place medal and broke another school record, bringing her total to five records over the course of the meet. The relay squad set the new school benchmark at 46.22.
Bangit, seeking a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, holds a cumulative GPA of 3.81 and was the sole recipient of an award from the School of Education at the SASP Awards held in April. She also volunteers her time as a track coach at a local middle school.

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women’s soccer program has announced its 2025 signing class on Wednesday.
Under the first-year leadership of head coach Jeff Freeman and his staff, the Tigers are adding nine newcomers that feature seven freshmen and two transfers.
“I couldn’t be more excited to bring in this class of newcomers into our program to kick things off for my first season at Pacific,” Freeman said. “This group, alongside some seasoned veterans and returning players, will give us the strength, soccer savvy, and athleticism to move Pacific women’s soccer in a positive direction!”
Starting with the incoming transfers, sophomore Drew Novaes returns to her roots of the Central Valley after her freshman season as a goalkeeper at San Jose State. The native of West Sacramento, California appeared in one match during the 2024 campaign and played 45 minutes.
“Drew brings an experienced goalkeeper into our goalkeeper group,” Freeman said. “She has the ability to make the big save, alongside all the routine ones. We are excited about Drew’s decision to come to Pacific and the impact she can have for us right away!”
Junior Whitney Garn makes her way to Stockton after two seasons at Salt Lake Community College. The native of Riverton, Utah scored 13 goals and 30 points across her time with the Bruins.
“Whitney is a leader, a great teammate and a hard worker,” Freeman said. “Whitney brings everything that we need in an upperclassman. She will help lead us on the field, in the locker room, and in the community. Whitney will make Pacific women’s soccer better in a number of ways, both on and off the field!”
Freshman Carly Hall is the first of seven first-year players welcoming to the Tigers ahead of the 2025 season. The native of Sacramento, California looks to bolster the back line for Pacific after supporting the strong defense at Saint Francis.
“Carly comes from the rich Davis Legacy program and has the soccer IQ to show for it,” Freeman said. “Her understanding of the game tactically and ability to get up and down the flank will fit right into the way we want to play.”
A Stockton, California native, freshman Janelli Villagran put together a strong resume while at Franklin. Villagran scored 90 goals in 47 games across her high school soccer career.
“Janelli is as exciting of an attacking player as they come,” Freeman said. “Versatile, savvy, and tough, Janelli gives us the mentality and passion for the game that is such a valuable part of a team. No matter what team at whatever level Janelli plays for wins, and she has a direct impact on that.”
Freshman Aja Castaneda journeys from Southern California to embark her college career at Pacific. The native of Rancho Cucamonga, California played a pivotal role on Legends FC of the ECNL, who finished as the state runner-up in 2024.
“Aja is a Legends FC product who has the ability to play anywhere along our back line,” Freeman said. “She has the ability to impact our team in multiple positions this fall. Depth and talent from players like Aja are going to be so important to our success!”
Freshman Makayla Marin-Valencia comes from the Bay Area to Stockton. The native of San Francisco, California was on the U-20 El Salvador National Team and was named the most valuable midfielder as a senior in high school.
“Makayla brings some serious soccer IQ and flair to Pacific women’s soccer,” Freeman said. “Part of the El Salvador National Team system and a soccer family, Makayla has the tools to develop into a top player in the West Coast Conference.”
Freshman Yohonna Bell represents the farthest newcomer from the country, hailing from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. For the Heritage Hall Chargers, Bell was a two-time state champion and was top eight all-time in school history in both goals and assists.
“Yohonna is as athletic as they come,” Freeman said. “She has the grit, pace, and determination to cause problems for our opponents. Her ability to put defenders on their heels, especially one-on-one, alongside her ability to score goals is going to be fun to watch.”
Freshman Lis Van Herwijnen represents Pacific’s only international newcomer of the group, suiting up as a 5-foot-8 goalkeeper from The Netherlands.
“Lis is an exciting add for our goalkeepers,” Freeman said. “She is good off her line, great with her feet, and a very good shot stopper. Lis brings with her some international flare that will be an exciting piece of Pacific women’s soccer in 2025 and beyond.”
Freshman Sally Niederhauser rounds out the signing class. The native of Corona, California is the tallest of the nine newcomers, measuring in at 5-foot-9.
“Sally is a very complete athlete,” Freeman said. “She is strong, has a tremendous work ethic, and will be dynamic out on the flank or up front for us. I’m excited Sally made the decision to reclassify and come to Pacific in 2025.”
With the 2025 signing class complete, the Tigers are set to embark on the season ahead, beginning Aug. 14 against Sacramento State at Knoles Field.
