MTS US, an Italian-based motorsport training school that opened in Indianapolis in May, celebrated its first graduating class June 29.

Ten students from Indiana, North Carolina, New York and Wisconsin received diplomas during a ceremony at the MTS Training Center, 4007 Guion Lane, including 21-year-old Ryley Lynch, a Hamilton Southeastern High School graduate.

According to a MTS announcement, Lynch soon will start a new job with Graham Rahal Performance, where he’ll work on high-performance vehicles like Porsche and Lamborghini.

“I’ve always loved motorsports, but it seemed like a hard industry to break into,” Lynch stated. “MTS gave me the only real opportunity I’ve seen to do it. The people I got to learn from —some of them I never imagined I’d even meet in my lifetime, let alone work with side by side.”

MTS US offers hands-on training for aspiring race mechanics and data engineers. Founded by professional driver and racing team manager Eugenia Capanna, MTS prepares students for careers with teams in F1, MotoGP, IndyCar and other top racing series.

“Since opening our doors in Indianapolis, we’ve dreamed of this moment — seeing our very first group of students cross the finish line,” Capanna stated. “Their hard work, resilience and commitment have set the standard for every class that will follow. They are not just graduates — they are the foundation of our legacy in the Racing Capital of the World.”

Applications are open for the next cohort, which begins Aug. 22. MTS expects to enroll 15 to 30 students in the mechanical program and five to 10 in its data engineering track.

It certainly made for a unique spectacle.

NASCAR Next Gen cars motoring down DuSable Lake Shore Drive and Michigan Avenue in the heart of downtown Chicago. Skyscrapers looming over the track, with painted turn lanes still on the roads and sidewalks just beyond the barriers.

The third Chicago Street Race took place last weekend. It could be the last, though NASCAR and the Windy City could agree to extend the initial three-year contract, which ended with the 2025 event, for another year or two.

Or, it could head elsewhere.

The Athletic reported last month that NASCAR and San Diego had discussed the west coast city hosting a street race. Would you like to see that?

How about one in New York City with the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty visible or Seattle with the Space Needle in the background?

Philadelphia? Denver?

International spots like Toronto, Montreal, São Paulo or London?

Heck, maybe you’d want to see NASCAR really emphasize its roots with a street race in Daytona Beach.

Let’s vote. The poll will remain open until 9 a.m. July 13. The ballot allows for multiple selections.

Hertz, an iconic rental car brand that last served as a primary sponsor in the NASCAR Cup Series five years ago, will make its return to the series as it has partnered with LEGACY MOTOR CLUB and John Hunter Nemechek, the driver of the team’s No. 42 Toyota Camry XSE.

According to a press release from LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, Hertz will serve as the primary sponsorship partner for Nemechek and the No. 42 team in the July 20 NASCAR Cup Series event at Dover Motor Speedway.

The partnership between LMC and Hertz links motorsport investments for Knighthead Capital Management LLC, which co-owns the Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA organization in the FIA World Endurance Championship and joined LEGACY MOTOR CLUB as a co-owner heading into the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.

The 28-year-old Nemechek, who has enjoyed the best season of his young NASCAR Cup Series career in 2025, is ecstatic about his new partnership with Hertz.

“We’re excited to see Hertz and Hertz Car Sales on the No. 42 this summer at Dover,” said John Hunter Nemechek, driver of the LEGACY MOTOR CLUB Toyota. “It’s awesome to represent such a recognizable global brand, and even more special knowing it ties into the broader Knighthead motorsport vision that spans NASCAR and endurance racing.”

In its last stint as a primary sponsor in the NASCAR Cup Series, Hertz’s iconic colors adorned the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driven by William Byron in nine events over a three-season stint (2018 to 2020). Hertz is happy to expand its motorsport footprint back into the NASCAR Cup Series in a partnership that aligns with its other motorsports ventures.

“Hertz has a proud legacy in motorsports, and we’re excited to expand our presence by partnering with LEGACY MOTOR CLUB and John Hunter Nemechek for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover,” said Gil West, Hertz Chief Executive Officer. “This collaboration not only highlights our iconic brand on one of racing’s biggest stages, but also showcases Hertz Car Sales as a trusted source of high-quality used vehicles. It’s an exciting opportunity to connect with fans and customers through the thrill of racing.”

Nemechek, who has collected a career-high six top-10 finishes through the opening 19 races of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season, heads into this weekend’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway ranked 20th in the NASCAR Cup Series championship standings.

The driver and his No. 42 team have been among the most improved in the NASCAR Cup Series garage this season as Nemechek ranks seven positions higher in the championship standings after 19 races this year than he did at this exact point in the season in 2024.

Nemechek also recorded his career-best finish, to date, in February as he finished fifth in the season-opening Daytona 500. Nemechek has also secured top-10 finishes at Atlanta, Texas, Kansas, Mexico City, and Pocono. He’ll look to add another in a couple of weeks at Dover as he hopes to kick off his new partnership with Hertz in style.

Ram Charges into NASCAR, Returning 2026

The age-old adage ”win on Sunday, sell on Monday” will soon be a part of Ram’s marketing strategy once more. After a 13-year hiatus, Ram is returning to the NASCAR Craftsman truck series, part of an ongoing “Ram-demption” marketing push. This strategy in particular should appease the more than 40 percent of NASCAR fans that double as pickup truck owners.

With their eyes set on Daytona, eight or so months away, Ram has their work cut out for them; but, it may not be as much as initially conceived. At a private press backgrounder at the Stellantis headquarters in Detroit, Michigan, their progress thus far became immediately apparent. The back doors slid open to the sounds of a 9,000 rpm-revving, ground hugging, side-exhaust spewing Ram 1500 concept race truck. Oh yeah, it’s mean.

The driver was sunk low in the operator’s rigid bucket seat, the passenger seat axed to expose a white floor contrasted by a large, red fuel line and aptly-placed fire extinguisher. Through the interwoven roll cage, a simplistic dash was on display, an ignition switch and race-ready readouts replacing the Uconnect 5 infotainment system seen on pedestrian Rams. The bed was covered, topped with clear sail panels adorned with ‘Ram’ typography; ‘Direct Connection,’ Mopar’s aftermarket support network, fulfilled numerous sponsorship spots across the livery. On each corner, this low-slung pickup met the glossy floor tiles through Goodyear slicks.

“For more than a decade, customers and our dealer network asked about getting back into NASCAR,” said Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Ram. “The desire was always there, but we didn’t have a plan that delivered the last tenth and following just didn’t fit our DNA. Now we have a solid plan that will set us apart from the field and will bring fresh new interest and engagement to America’s Motorsport.”

With the return of the Ram 1500’s HEMI V8 and their continuing product pushes geared towards the rambunctious and rebellious, the brand’s reemergence in NASCAR seems all too perfect. And when you watch a Ram 1500 stock truck whip around Daytona early next year, you might just grin ear to ear.

Subaru Motorsports USA Returns to Goodwood Festival of Speed, Aiming for Shootout Glory and Rally Stage Thrills

After a breakout debut at the 2024 Festival where Scott Speed and the blistering WRX: Project Midnight recorded the fastest internal combustion engine (ICE) time and ran neck-and-neck with electric competitors boasting triple the power, the duo is back for 2025. “Project Midnight is an amazing car,” says Speed. “And Goodwood is a special event. I can’t wait to run it up that hill again!” The car is brutally loud, shooting flames out of the hood as it charges toward its nearly 10,000 rpm redline—an unmistakable presence on the hill.

No Festival of Speed would be complete without Subaru Motorsports USA driver and extreme sports icon Travis Pastrana, who this year returns to the gravel on Goodwood’s storied rally stage behind the wheel of the class-leading WRX ARA25. With his characteristic energy and flair, Pastrana is set to thrill in the American Rally Association (ARA) Open 4WD class car.

I’m stoked to be in the O4WD car again!” Pastrana says. “It’ll take a second to get used to it, but I always have fun driving for that crowd. We’re gonna have a great time!

As Goodwood celebrates thirty years since Colin McRae’s title-winning season, Subaru’s presence on the rally stage carries added weight. With several of McRae’s own cars running alongside the WRX ARA25, the moment is both a tribute and a reminder: the spirit that defined an era continues today—loud, fast, and still wearing the same iconic colors.

With the crowd still buzzing from last year’s record-setting runs, anticipation is high for Project Midnight’s return to the hill. From classic motorsport icons and rare hypercars to experimental hybrids and full-electric mobility platforms, the 2025 Festival promises a lineup as diverse as ever. And with Formula 1’s 75th anniversary as a central theme, fans can expect to see legends of speed from every corner of the racing world.
