In this interview, we explore Divyajot’s journey, his vision for the future of sports broadcasting, and the technological advancements that are shaping the way fans engage with their favorite sports.
Can you share the story behind the founding of wTVision Solutions and what inspired you to enter the sports broadcasting and technology industry?
Divyajot Ahluwalia: My journey into sports broadcasting was driven by a deep passion for both sports and technology and a lot of things falling in place. As a youngster, I was an aspiring sportsman who chose an education and career in software development and sales.
While the industry was evolving, the gap between consumers’ ability to consume more data-driven graphics and the industry players’ ability to innovate and step up was becoming evident.
A few lucky coincidences had me found wTVision, with the goal of providing broadcasters and sports organizations with innovative, state-of-the-art solutions.
We have come a long way since. By using AI-powered analytics, augmented reality, and live data visualization, we strive to innovate, turning live shows into captivating technology-driven spectacles. The pursuit of real-time perfection continues to drive us forward, and the best is yet to come.
How has the landscape of sports broadcasting evolved since you founded wTVision, and what role has your company played in that evolution?
Divyajot Ahluwalia: The sports broadcasting industry has seen a generational shift with a growing focus on data integration, advanced analytics, and more immersive visual storytelling.
Since wTVision began, we have been at the forefront of this shift, delivering innovative graphics, automation, and data solutions that power modern sports broadcasts.
Our agility in adapting to emerging technologies, maintaining quality, meeting tight turnarounds without raising costs, and responding to our client’s needs has established us as a go-to partner for broadcasters and federations worldwide by investing in talent and as well as in the newest technology, we have played a role in an industry where accuracy, speed, and innovation define the future of broadcast sports.
Can you explain the key technologies and innovations that wTVision has introduced to enhance sports broadcasting?
Divyajot Ahluwalia: wTVision continues to bring innovation to sports broadcasting through cutting-edge technologies. Our R&D department has developed Talos, a range of products based on AI and ML and Computer Vision to track players.
We have also deployed the Talos Mimic for animating moving player images, Talos AI Keyer for segmenting players in generic surroundings, 3D volumetric player scanning and motion capture.
Additionally, we leverage gaming technologies in broadcasting for virtual sets, augmented reality, and virtual advertising, further enhancing overall production capabilities.
How do you ensure that your solutions remain cutting-edge and meet the ever-changing demands of the sports industry?
Divyajot Ahluwalia: To remain at the forefront of sports broadcasting, it takes a never-ending commitment to innovation, flexibility, and delivery.
We keep our solutions ahead of the curve by listening closely to our customers, hearing their changing needs, and responding with customized solutions. R&D investment is a core focus, enabling us to innovate beyond boundaries and provide next-generation solutions that redefine the sector.
We also believe in developing talent at the ground level, promoting a culture of learning, and empowering our teams with the requisite skills to promote innovation.
Through close collaboration with broadcasters and sports organizations, we iterate our solutions in real-time, delivering fast turnaround, efficient integration, and a forward-thinking approach that not only keeps the industry in sync but helps forge it.
How do you approach partnerships and collaborations within the sports broadcasting ecosystem?
Divyajot Ahluwalia: Trust, long-term cooperation and a passion for excellence form the foundation of what we do at wTVision.
We believe in building real relationships with technology providers, broadcasters, and sports organizations, understanding their unique needs, and crafting solutions that truly make a difference.
Rather than offering one-size-fits-all answers, we work closely to innovate. For example, our partnership with JioHotstar and BCCI led to the development of our Artificial Intelligence product – Talos Keyer, which is used to segment people akin to chroma keying with a busy background without the need for a green screen.
Through developing strategic alliances, we extend beyond technology and work towards delivering actual and lasting value to the sports broadcasting ecosystem.
What trends do you see shaping the future of sports broadcasting, particularly in terms of technology and viewer engagement?
Divyajot Ahluwalia: The future of sports broadcasting will be tech-driven, with automation making the workflow smoother and personalized. Augmented reality will deliver more immersive experiences, and computer vision will optimize things.
The content will be further segmented by language, age, and geography to suit the shorter attention span of viewers. AI agents will lower broadcasters’ operation costs and increase the speed and volume of data analytics and visualization to deliver more in-depth coverage.
Cloud-based production and native integration of data will be key to delivering entertaining, efficient sports coverage to a wide audience base.
Can you discuss any upcoming projects or innovations that wTVision is currently working on?
Divyajot Ahluwalia: While I can’t share specifics just yet, wTVision is gearing up for several exciting innovations in sports broadcasting. We are continuously working on advancements that enhance viewer engagement and production quality.
Our focus remains on pushing the boundaries of technology, with developments in areas like 3D volumetric scans, multi-language support, animated characters, image-to-video transformations, special camera technology, and AI Keyer.
What are your success tips for young and aspiring entrepreneurs?
Divyajot Ahluwalia: My advice to young and up-and-coming entrepreneurs is easy. Commit and deliver – Unconditionally.
When you tell people you are going to do something, make sure you own it and see it through. Execution is more valuable than ideas, and grit is what sets great entrepreneurs apart from the pack.
Each failure is an opportunity, and each experience, whether a success or failure, keeps you one step ahead. The key to it is to be flexible, learn from your past, and move forward. Believe in your vision, stay focused, and the outcome will take care of itself.
Nurture the talent around you and delegate. Leadership is not about doing it all yourself but empowering the team to deliver. Be enthusiastic about new possibilities and stay open to change. Disrupt the status quo when you get comfortable.
Under Divyajot Ahluwalia’s leadership, wTVision Solutions continues to set new standards in sports broadcasting and technology.
His commitment to innovation and excellence not only enhances the viewing experience but also paves the way for future advancements in the industry.
As he shares his insights, it becomes clear that Divyajot’s influence will play a pivotal role in the evolution of sports media, inspiring both professionals and fans alike.
