Madeline Ahern and Grace Faddoul, along with junior Rosalie Martin, each earned qualification for the prestigious Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Competition in their respective events. They represented the Stonehill College Equestrian Team at the IHSA Zone 1 Championships in Ledyard, Connecticut, on Sunday afternoon.
With these individual qualifications, Stonehill has now had a presence at the IHSA National Championship for four consecutive years, dating back to 2022 when Haley Whittaker, ’23, qualified in the novice flat event and earned Reserve Champion honors.
Ahern will make her third consecutive appearance at the national competition after being named the Cacchione Cup High-Point Rider for Zone 1. Additionally, the senior from Stoughton, Massachusetts, will compete in the open flats at IHSA Nationals, having finished as Reserve Champion in the individual equitation at the Zone 1 Championships.
Faddoul and Martin will each make their first appearance at the IHSA National Championships. Faddoul claimed the individual championship in the intermediate flat event, while Martin secured a spot as the Reserve Champion in the Novice Division at the IHSA Zone 1 Championships in Ledyard.
