The Alabama Football Coaches Association announced its yearly coaching awards on Monday for each AHSAA classification.

One head coach and one assistant coach in each classification were honored.

Winners are nominated by a member of the ALFCA, with the nominations screened by a committee, recommendations handed to the board and the board of directors voting on winners.

All 14 coaches will be honored at a banquet at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Montgomery on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Head coaches of the year

Class 1A: Brad Abbott, Maplesville

Class 2A: Jonathan Nix, Pleasant Valley

Class 3A: David McKinney, Winfield

Class 4A: Tim Bowens, Brooks

Class 5A: Kirk Johnson, Montgomery Catholic

Class 6A: Jeff Kelly, Saraland

Class 7A: Juan Johnson, Baker

Assistant coaches of the year

Class 1A: Justin Little, Maplesville

Class 2A: Adam Gilbert, Pisgah

Class 3A: Kevin Bedwell, Piedmont

Class 4A: Brett Henderson, Cherokee County

Class 5A: Adam Wallace, Beauregard

Class 6A: Chad Cochran, Oxford

Class 7A: Sean Talsman, Hewitt-Trussville
