TALLADEGA, Ala. — The International Motorsports Hall of Fame celebrated a significant moment as the Allison family, along with the rest of the Alabama Gang, was honored with a new exhibition. The unveiling took place just outside the track at Talladega Superspeedway, highlighting the family’s contributions to the world of motorsports.
The Hall of Fame, which briefly shut down in 2020, has reopened with a renewed mission to preserve the history of motorsports and honor those who have significantly contributed to its growth. The institution focuses on recognizing the achievements of prominent figures in the field, including drivers and other key contributors, while celebrating their legacies.
Donnie Allison had this to say on being honored with the new exhibit “It’s just hard to explain how good it does feel. That we were able to do this and build a name for Alabama like we did”, said Allison.
Red Farmer, another member of the famed “Alabama Gang” was also on hand for the ribbon cutting. “My life has been a good one. I won a lot of races, a lot of championships. And got some recognition from it. It’s an honor to be in a class with a bunch of guys like Bobby, and Donnie and myself and becoming the Alabama gang”, said Farmer.
The Hall of Fame aims to inspire the next generation of racers and enthusiasts by showcasing the rich history and achievements of motorsports.
