HONOLULU (Island News) — A gradually weakening front moving over Oahu will keep bringing rain to the western regions of the state throughout today as it stalls.
Blustery north-northeast winds will transition to east-northeast across Hawaii this afternoon and evening, before settling to light and variable conditions over the weekend. More robust trade winds are anticipated to make a comeback next week.
A slowly advancing front is bringing precipitation to western Hawaii today, with wind patterns shifting to east-northeast. Surf warnings are currently active for shores facing north and west due to a moderate northwest swell, which will continue through the weekend.
A High Surf Advisory is in place until 6 PM HST today for Niihau, Kauai Leeward, Oahu North Shore, and Kauai North, along with a Small Craft Advisory for certain waters around Kauai and Oahu until 6 PM HST.
A moderate northwest swell is generating advisory-level waves on north and west-facing shores, especially on Oahu’s North Shore. This swell is expected to gradually diminish over the coming days, but elevated surf will persist into the weekend.
A new northwest swell is set to crest on Saturday, followed by another reinforcement on Monday, maintaining high surf conditions on exposed north and west shores.
Simultaneously, a small south swell will continue to wane through Friday, with yet another small, long-period south-southwest swell anticipated this weekend.
