Laurelle Setters led Mason County in the high school girls’ division, taking 17th with a score of 271. Mary Katherine Shepherd then shot a 270, placing four spots behind Setters at 21st. Closing out the Lady Royals’ top five were then Kimber Ferguson at 27th with a 266, and Sydney Hamilton and Eden Abshire, both shooting 261s with eight tens, tying with Pendleton County’s Elizabeth Ammerman. Hamilton took 33rd, and Abshire 34th.
The Mason County Royals then came in right behind Fleming County, placing fourth as a team with a combine 3,247 and 137 tens scored.
Wyatt Curtis and Kalvin Whalen led the team in the high school boys’ division. Both archers shot 275, Curtis’ personal best. Curtis shot one more ten than Whalen, tying with Fleming County’s Logan Bretz, placing eighth, with Whalen taking 10th.
Each archer competing this past weekend worked hard to help their team place high in the standings, and to place as high as possible individually. Their hard work and dedication to the sport continues to help them improve as the season progresses, with several local teams heading to Mt. Oliver to compete in the RCS NASP IBO/3D Challenge next weekend.
Coming in just behind Pendleton County and Simon Kenton, the Fleming County Panthers placed third as a team scoring a combined 3,252, and with 142 tens scored throughout the course of the day.
Not far behind her, was Terri Applegate, shooting a 285 to take third, and Kaylee Crawford with a 277 to place eighth. Maria Humphries then shot a 260 to take 37th, and Bella Hamilton a 258, tying with Alexis Pendleton, taking 41st, rounding out the Lady Panthers top five archers.
Anna Bond led the Lady Bears with a 265, placing 28th. Bracken County’s top five in the high school girls’ division was then rounded out by Ellie Gallagher, Grace Scott, Sanae Takata and Sheyla Torres-Marquez. Gallagher shot a 241 placing 69th, with Scott shooting a personal best 235 to take 71st, Takata a 230 to take 73rd and Torres-Marquez a 229 to place 74th.
Jasper Miller led the Panthers in the high school boys’ division, shooting a personal best 268 with nine tens to tie with Fleming’s Kevin Alfrey, placing 20th. Cayden Bach then also shot a personal best 263 to take 30th, with Tristen Price, Camden Gill and Ayden Courts closing out the Panthers’ performance this meet. Price shot a 242 to take 55th, Gill a 214 to take 66th and Courts a 209 to place 68th.
Mason County senior Bryce Pollitt led in the division, shooting a 294 to take first place individually.
Chris Jett, Andrew Gray and Henry Chain then wrapped up Robertson County’s top five archers in the division. Jett shot a personal best 267 with 13 tens to place 21st, Gray a 262 to place 32nd and chain a 260 to place 39th.
The last local team competing for team placement, was then the Augusta Panthers, taking seventh with a team score of 2,925 and 65 tens.
Mackenzie Conley led the team in the high school girls’ division, shooting a personal best 289 to take first place out 86 archers in the field.
In the high school boys’ division, Bracken County was led by Levi Botkin, with a 272 placing him 14th. Cayden Williams then shot a 231 to take 60th, with Landen Bishop just behind him a 61st, shooting a 227. Bracken County’s last archer competing in the high school boys’ division was then Colby Moore, shooting a 180 to place 70th.
Dillon Mitchell wasn’t far behind, taking seventh place with a score of 277. Jace Dodson then shot a 274 to take 11th, with Dalton Hargett and Jacob Applegate closing out the Royals’ top five this event. Hargett shot a 271 with nine tens to tie with St. Henry’s Nolan Townsend, taking 16th place. Applegate tied with fellow Royal, Chancellor Trimble with a 269, but shot three more tens, taking 17th.
All five local archery teams took to Brooksville this past weekend to compete in the Bracken County Polar Bear Shoot, Bracken County’s first home archery tournament.
While they were not competing for team placement, tournament hosts the Bracken County Polar Bears were competing as individuals.
Following him was Logan Bretz, with a 275, tying with Robertson County’s Wyatt Curtis and Calvin Whalen. Both Bretz and Curtis had 12 tens, the pair tying for eighth. Kevin Alfrey, Eli Cline and John Graham closed out Fleming County’s top five in the division, with Alfrey putting up a 268 taking 19th, and both Cline and Graham tying with a score of 266, taking 23rd and 24th respectively.
In the high school girls’ division, Zoey Earlywine led Robertson County, shooting a 269 placing 22nd. Liz Murell then shot a 259 to take 39th, with Marley Emmons, Zoey McKay and Nicole Godsey closing out the top five for the Lady Devils. Emmons placed 54th, shooting a 252, McKay 58th, with a score of 251 and Godsey 68th, shooting a 245.
In the high school boys’ division, junior Carson Thomas led the Panthers, putting up a personal best 292, to place second individually out of 70 archers in contention.
The Robertson County Black Devils were the next highest scoring local team, placing sixth, just behind St. Henry. The Black Devils scored a combined 3,083, picking up 83 tens throughout the course of the day.
In the high school girls’ division, Augusta was led by Adalen Gilliam, with a personal best 260 placing her 36th. Nora Gill then shot a 252, taking 55th, with Abbey Bradford not far behind with a 251, placing 57th. Claire Elliott then close out Augusta’s performance in the division, with a personal best 235 placing her 72nd.
