The Aztecs have recorded three straight shutouts to begin league play. All three victories have been by scores on 1-0. Martinez’s goal came six minutes into the game helping the Aztecs improve to 3-0 in Desert Sky League action. At Osmar, Hernandez scored two goals and two assists to lead the Mustangs on Jan. 15. Brayon Fuentes, Geovanni Godoy, Zacarias Gutierrez, Noah Linder and Jose Correa each scored a goal. At Victorville, the Hawks bounced back from losing to Adelanto with a big victory over the Aztecs on Friday night.

At Phelan, the Bulldogs improved to 15-0-1 on the season as Chris Palacios scored a hat trick on Jan. 16. D’Angelo Martinez and Josiah Espinosa each scored two goals with an assist, and Alejandro Mendez also scored a goal. Barstow is currently atop the standings and hosts Granite Hills on Jan. 22 in a big-time showdown to wrap up the first round of DSL play. Granite Hills is second in the standings with a 2-0-1 record through three games. 

At Victorville, the Jaguars improved to 3-0 in Cross Valley League play Friday afternoon, led by Rafael Carvallo’s goal.

Adelanto 55, Victor Valley 53

Alex Hernandez played the first half in goal and recorded two saves. AJ Lealofi recorded five saves in the second half, including a potential game-tying penalty kick. 

Silverado 84, Barstow 55

At Hesperia, the Sultans took possession of second place in the MRL standings on Jan. 16. Paulino Acosta-Arellano scored on an assist from Chris Echevarria to lift Sultana. Hayden Millard recorded the shutout, his third shutout in MRL play and four in the last five games. 

Hesperia 86, Sultana 46

At Adelanto, the Saints held on to beat the Jackrabbits and hold on to first place in the DSL standings Friday night. Christen Brown led the way for the Saints with 18 points, O’Shaun Rodriguez followed right behind with 14 points and Masun McCelleon chipped in 10 points.

“We have had some solid games against some great competitions to start the season,” Barstow head coach Steven Richardson. “We look forward to the first meeting with Granite Hills next week. It should be a great game. We get to play at home in front of our fans.” 

Oak Hills 8, Serrano 0

At Hesperia, Nolan Newman-Gomez led the Scorpions with 26 points, eight rebounds and three assists as the Scorpions knocked off their cross-city rival on Jan. 16. Jasiah Williams had 14 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, five blocks and three steals; and Alex Nuno 15 points and three steals. The victory sets up a clash at Oak Hills on Jan. 21 with first place in the Mojave River League standings on the line.

At Apple Valley, Makayla Signorelli and Alia Collins recorded hat tricks on Jan. 16. Apple Valley also got two goals from Bailey Richer and Eliana Martinsen, Joshlynn Ho Ching Rangel, Sydney Stewart and Isabella Starling each scored a goal. 

Oak Hills 2, Serrano 1

At Oak Hills, Lily Helmer and Emily Montes each scored a goal to lift the Bulldogs past the Diamondbacks on Jan. 16. Mollie Zielke and Ariana Yslas both recorded an assist. 

Apple Valley 12, Burroughs 0

Cash Martinez provided the offense late to lift the Barstow boys soccer team past Silverado on Friday. At Victorville, Emilicia Fonseca and Esmeralda Jimenez both scored goals to lift the Cougars past the Knights on Friday afternoon.
