LITTLE ROCK, Ark — On Thursday, April 17, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed over 100 bills into law, one of which passed exemptions for name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals for athletes in the state.
The act was signed just before a move by the University of Arkansas’ NIL collective, Arkansas Edge. The group is reportedly seeking the return of around $200,000 from a quarterback who recently entered the transfer portal just months after arriving on campus.
Arkansas was the first state to adopt a law that exempts NIL payments from state taxes, and the bill applies retroactively to all deals made on or after Jan. 1, 2025.

Kansas State basketball still needed a difference-maker for its roster, and Coach Jerome Tang, along with the help of some generous NIL donors, earned the commitment of former Memphis guard PJ Haggerty, who averaged nearly 22 points a game last season for the Tigers. Last season’s American Conference Player of the Year hauled in a healthy NIL, and only time will tell if he lives up to the financial commitment.

Sean Miller on NCAA’s NIL issues: ‘You’re flying the plane and building it at the same time’

At the SEC spring meetings this year there are a half dozen hot topics being kicked around. If you ask new Texas basketball coach Sean Miller, there’s one that sits front and center. But that’s not the case for all coaches.
Many of them view different issues as the most pressing. But for Miller, the one that takes the cake is clear.
“I think the hot-button model is just singular. It’s the name, image and likeness and how that’s going to work moving forward,” Sean Miller said. “And, look, as a coach, I don’t think any of us can be presumptuous or act as if we know the answer.”
That will, in part, be up to the decisions made when it comes to the House settlement. Things remain in a state of limbo there as the powers that be negotiate a potential landmark settlement for college sports.
In the interim, though, there’s a large swath of confusion. Nothing is all that clear, leaving coaches fending for themselves in what many have described as the ‘Wild, Wild West.’
Sean Miller had another interesting analogy for what’s going on. He shared.
“Part of it is just we’re in this period of time of the unknown,” he said. “And I think the analogy that I’ve heard is you’re flying the plane and building it at at the same time. And to some degree in terms of sports that’s true. Where you’re trying to make the best decisions for your program, most importantly for the players that you’re coaching in real time, knowing certain things may not be the same in the future.”
That uncertainty has made things quite difficult to manage for coaches like Sean Miller. Not impossible, just difficult.
Miller pointed out, though, that that’s true of any period with significant change. There’s always a learning curve.
“And by the way, certain things aren’t the same today as they were even a year ago,” Sean Miller said. “So I think it’s that unknown. There’s never been more of it when it comes to that, which affects recruiting, the lifeblood of what we all do.”

Anthony Hill Jr. NIL: How Much Are the Texas LB’s NIL Deals Worth
Anthony Hill Jr., the Texas Longhorns’ star linebacker, has emerged as a marketable name in college football. As a 2024 Second-Team All-American, his on-field potential with 113 tackles, 8 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles last season has translated into good Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals.
In a scene where Texas athletes have collectively earned millions, Hill’s rising value holds a lot of potential for bagging NIL deals and sponsorships.

How Much Is Anthony Hill Jr.’s NIL Deals’ Value And Net Worth?
Since the NCAA permitted NIL compensation in 2021, Texas has become one of the big whales in the NIL sea. They had athletes amassing more than $15.6 million across 2,980 deals by June 2023. Football has been the dominant sport in these deals alongside men’s basketball.
The Texas One Fund, the university’s primary NIL collective, spent over $11 million in 2023 alone, facilitating deals with brands like Bose and Goat Fuel for Longhorns players.
Anthony Hill benefits a lot from this ecosystem. His NIL valuation, as estimated by On3, stands at $631,000, which is an estimate based on his performance, social media presence, and marketability.
Hill’s 180 career tackles, 13 sacks, and 24.5 tackles for loss across 30 games make him one of the most promising players in his role. He is projected as a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
In a recent appearance on The Pivot Podcast alongside teammate Colin Simmons, Hill discussed how NIL deals provide financial freedom, allowing him to approach football like a job. “It gets me excited to work out, run, lift, hit,” Hill said, highlighting how good money fuels his motivation.
Teammates like Kelvin Banks Jr. ($633,000) and Jonathan Brooks ($598,000) have secured high-value deals through Texas One Fund partnerships. Hill’s $631,000 valuation likely underestimates his actual earnings, given his status as a top-10 college football player and his role in a program with a rumored $35–40 million roster budget for 2025.
Hill’s deals include endorsements with national brands like Kane Footwear and Vanguard Volkswagen, similar to teammates’ partnerships with Bose or Goat Fuel. His social media engagement, though not quantified here, enhances his value, as brands prioritize players with strong fan connections.
Looking ahead, Hill’s NIL worth could climb as he enters his junior year. Continued dominance, potential Butkus Award contention, and Texas’ SEC spotlight could push his valuation closer to top earners like Arch Manning ($6.6 million).

It’s been a record-breaking year for women’s sports in performance and paychecks. For the first time, 11 female athletes brought in over $10 million each, with tennis still dominating the top 10. But what’s exciting is the growing range of sports, including golf, gymnastics, freestyle skiing, and more.
Still, Forbesreported that no women rank in the top 50 highest-paid athletes around the world — for the second year in a row. While that ghastly fact clearly highlights the gross inequities and very obvious pay gap between men and women in sports, we still wanna celebrate the financial accomplishments these 10 female athletes still managed to achieve. Look at the standout women paving the way in prize money and endorsement deals. (And no matter what they make, we still think they rock!)
Scroll to meet the highest-paid female athletes in 2025!
