Full-contact practices are limited, and some is allowed for teaching blocking techniques.
Rising seniors, juniors and sophomores are allowed to participate in spring drills — in most years, a number of veterans will likely be held out or limited in participation as they recover from injuries. Freshmen do not report to the Academy until July 1 and will join the veterans once Beast Barracks summer training is concluded. At some colleges, some fall freshmen who have enrolled for a spring semester of classes may participate in spring drills.
