The Sharks commenced their Investec Champions Cup journey with a 39-21 win against the Exeter Chiefs in Durban.

Springbok skipper Siya Kolisi scored twice, contributing to the Sharks’ tally of five tries, alongside Phepsi Buthelezi, Makazole Mapimpi, and Grant Williams, while Jaden Hendrikse completed the scoring with four conversions and two penalties.

The Exeter Chiefs missed out on a bonus point; Dan Frost managed to score twice, and Immanuel Feyi-Waboso also touched down, with Josh Hodge converting three times.

The home side seemed to be on track for an easy win, but a late-game collapse saw the Sharks with only 12 men, as Eben Etzebeth, Emile van Heerden, and Eduan Keyter all received yellow cards.

Despite this, they were able to withstand the pressure and secure the win, setting their sights on the UK where they will face the Leicester Tigers in the second round of the tournament.
