Harry Redknapp has hit out at Tottenham players who showed public support for Ange Postecoglou in the aftermath of his sacking.
Postecoglou, who was appointed head coach of Spurs ahead of the 2023/24 season, was sacked on the afternoon of June 6, just 16 days after leading them to victory in the Europa League final.
It was a controversial decision, to say the least, as many believed the Australian manager deserved another season in charge despite his side finishing 17th in the Premier League.
In fact, it was reported last week that chairman Daniel Levy is facing the threat of a player revolt, according to the Telegraph, who claim some players want to leave following the news.
The report also claims Postecoglou‘s successor will face ‘a huge task’ to repair the dressing-room damage, although the appointment of Thomas Frank has been met with a mostly positive reaction amongst fans.

Soon after the sacking of Postecoglou, a flurry of Spurs players rushed to social media to show their support for the former Melbourne Victory and Celtic manager.
Yves Bissouma shared details of a text message that Postecoglou sent to him following his departure, while Argentina’s Cristian Romero penned a heartfelt tribute to the 59-year-old, just an hour after Spurs announced the arrival of Thomas Frank.
“Ange, thank you for these two incredible seasons,” wrote Romero. “You’re a fantastic coach, but above all, a great person who deserves the best. From day one you paved the way despite the many obstacles that always existed and always will exist.”
He added: “Beyond everything, we won a trophy and went down in the history of this beautiful club, which is the only thing that matters. I wish you the best because you deserve the best, and thank you for everything.”
Despite their intentions, however, former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is far from impressed with those who showed their public support for Postecoglou.
Speaking at a Soccer Aid training session on Thursday, Redknapp said: “That’s football, that’s what footballers do. Oh we love the previous manager well why didn’t you try a bit harder you might not have finished fourth from bottom.
“It’s the same old message. The king is dead, long live the king. That’s football.”
“They all come out and say the manager was great and then the new manager comes and he’ll great,” Redknapp added. “Then when he goes they’re sorry to see him go. That’s football, you mustn’t take any notice of what they say.”
Do you agree with Redknapp? Let us know in the comments.

What happens when the pope wears your hat?

It is well known by now that Pope Leo XIV is a fan of the Chicago White Sox; he even attended Game 1 of the 2005 World Series, which the White Sox recently commemorated with a mural at their ballpark. His latest public display of fandom? Wednesday, he was spotted at the Vatican sporting a ‘47 branded White Sox cap, along with his white papal cassock.

But what actually happens when the Pope wears your hat? Not too many companies can ever say they’ve ever had someone of his holiness’ stature don their cap. So what exactly does that feel like, and what does it do for a brand??
“He’s the ultimate influencer,” said Patrick Cassidy, Vice President of Marketing at ‘47, adding later, “What the Pope is wearing is the exact model that a style-conscious fan can get on ‘47brand.com. That’s pretty cool.”
“It was surreal,” said Gary DeStefano, the Massachusetts newlywed who went viral for handing the pope his fresh new lid.

The White Sox cap that the Pope was wearing was a part of their MVP collection. Just a week prior, His Holiness was also seen wearing a Villanova Wildcats hat that was gifted to him by his alma mater. That cap was from ‘47’s Clean Up collection.
“He’s becoming this style icon through fandom with ‘47,” Cassidy said. “That’s a great signifier of where we are as a brand.”
In the last few weeks, Cassidy said that celebs such as Kim Kardashian, Timothee Chalamet and Caitlin Clark have been seen wearing apparel from ‘47, and the company has seen an influx of people on social media wearing their hats and tagging them daily. While ‘47 — a Massachusetts-based company acquired last year by New Era — didn’t give specifics on how their sales numbers have been impacted by the Pope’s recent fashion choices, the company seems optimistic about how it will impact their bottom line going forward.
“There’s clear signals in every possible way that more and more people are recognizing the ‘47 brand,” Cassidy said.
As for Gary and Kelly DeStefano, the newlywed couple from Massachusetts who gave the Pope the White Sox hat, they saw the aftereffects of what they did before they could even go to sleep that night.
On the final day of their 17-day honeymoon in Rome, the two planned to receive the “sposi novelli”, a blessing for newlyweds given by the Pope himself. They initially got the hat from Kelly’s cousin with the intention of wearing it in the crowd to get the Pope’s attention, clearly aware of his South Side roots. But once the two realized that all of the recently married couples would get a personal greeting from the Pope, they had another idea for what they’d do with the hat.

Once the Pope came up to them and gave them a blessing, DeStefano took the hat out from his side and asked: “would you mind putting this on?”
Prior to that, DeStefano had mentioned that the two were from Boston and were fans of the Red Sox. So when the Pope saw the White Sox hat, he laughed and said he would wear it, before offering a caveat: “but, you’re going to get in trouble, not me.”
By 9 p.m. in Rome on Wednesday, the couple had gone to sleep after what was one of the most memorable moments of their lives together. Two hours later, the two were awoken by the sound of constant buzzing on their phones.
The phone rang again on Thursday, as they were about to hustle through customs after their flight back home. By then, the video of the brief interaction — with the Pope telling his joke while modeling his black Sox cap — had gone viral.
“That to me showed the human side in the man,” DeStefano said in a phone interview. “He is the most humble man, down to earth and funny.”

Caitlin Clark, one of the rising stars of the WNBA, found herself at the center of online conversations once again-this time, not for a move on the court, but for a genuine moment of admiration shared with Candace Parker, a legendary figure in women’s basketball.
Caitlin Clark has all the gossip going strong
Clark, along with Indiana Fever teammates Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham, attended Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where the Indiana Pacers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-107, taking a 2-1 lead in the series.
During ESPN’s broadcast, where Parker was serving as an analyst, a brief yet powerful exchange took place between the two-time WNBA MVP and the Fever players. One snapshot quickly went viral: Clark, her eyes glowing with admiration, looking at Parker with deep respect.
Fans celebrate Clark’s humility on social media
The image of Clark’s reverent gaze spread rapidly across platforms like X (formerly Twitter), triggering emotional and joyful reactions. Many users focused on the authenticity of the moment. Comments such as “Look at her eyes! They all looked like total fan girls” and “CC is a global name, but she’s still in awe of legends like CP. It’s beautiful,” captured the heartwarming nature of the encounter.
Some fans playfully referenced Candace Parker’s recent appointment as president of women’s basketball at Adidas, joking: “So, what’s your Nike buyout clause again?”-hinting at the possibility of Parker recruiting Clark to the three-stripe brand.
But beyond the jokes, the moment symbolized a powerful bridge between generations in women’s basketball: a rising star paying homage to those who paved the way.
Parker praises Clark and rejects unfair comparisons
Candace Parker was not only gracious with the young players but has also publicly voiced her support for Caitlin Clark. In recent comments, the three-time WNBA champion opposed the growing comparisons between Clark and fellow rising star Angel Reese.
Las Vegas Aces center Candace Parker (3) watches her shot during a WNBA basketball game against the Atlanta Dream, Friday, June 2, 2023.
“Comparing Clark to Reese is like comparing apples to oranges,” Parker said. “Clark makes her team better, and that’s what really matters.”
Her remarks reaffirm Clark’s status as more than just a marketable figure-she’s a dedicated athlete committed to elevating her game and supporting her teammates.
Clark and Parker: A mutual respect that inspires the next generation
What started as a fleeting courtside moment during an NBA game quickly became a powerful symbol of legacy and continuity in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark, already one of the league’s most talked-about players, reminded everyone that she’s still a student of the game-humble in the presence of legends like Candace Parker.
Moments like these humanize athletes and strengthen the fabric of women’s basketball, where respect, sisterhood, and inspiration remain essential to its growth.

WELLINGTON, Florida (WPTV) — A Wellington flag football athlete is bringing the spotlight to Palm Beach County following a viral video with more than 2 million views on TikTok that shows off her arm skills.
Ava Hanson is a starting quarterback from Wellington High School and said was a historic season for their team. She threw 62 touchdowns and over 3,900 yards.
“At Wellington High, we’ve either won districts or we’ve won regionals but not in the same year,” said Hanson. “So this year we won both and we also made it to states.”
The viral video captures the moment from the state championship game and caught more attention than she expected.
“I threw a touchdown and let me tell you my teammates were jumping for joy,” said Hanson. “I was scrolling on TikTok and I saw myself and I was flabbergasted like it was the craziest thing I could’ve thought would ever happened.
Although they finished as runner-ups, Hanson said her team’s bond made all the difference.
“The camaraderie that my team has was the biggest impact on me for this whole season,” said Hanson.
Hanson will play college flag football at Hendrix College in Arkansas. Looking back, Hanson adds she only began playing flag football four years ago and never imagined coming this far.
“I’m going to study psychology there. So I’m hoping to start my life there,” said Hanson. “I still don’t think I’ve comprehended it fully. I think that once I finally get there, I’ll understand it more but at this moment, I am just so surprised and so proud that I have the opportunity to do this.”
Hanson adds her hard work didn’t go unnoticed and she’s been invited to play in an all-star game at Keiser University this weekend.
“I feel pretty great. I feel like this is definitely a big part of my life now. This is something I’m never going to forget and I’m just happy to make people in my life proud,” said Hanson.

During his time with Dallas, Wells helped mid-round picks Dalton Schultz and Jake Ferguson develop into consistent starters. Ferguson even made the Pro Bowl following a breakout campaign in 2023.
This year, Wells will be focused on getting Ferguson back on track following a frustrating campaign. He’s also working with second-year pro Brevyn Spann-Ford, who has had an outstanding start to camp.
