Austin Peay Esports team to debut against MTSU at E2CON
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Austin Peay State University will make its Esports debut this weekend with a showdown against Middle Tennessee State University.
The Govs Game Squad will face off in Tekken 8 on Saturday, Spe. 6, during CDE Lightband’s ECON2 in Clarksville.
The event begins at noon and will be livestreamed on Twitch, with a campus watch party planned at the Morgan University Center.

For APSU students, the match is more than a first competition – it’s the launch of a new program.
“It’s one thing playing online, but when you’re on the big stage in front of people, it’s a whole different game,” said sophomore Anthony Collier
Govs Gaming leaders say the club has quickly grown into a hub for students, offering both competitive teams and casual events.
Austin Peay said it hopes Saturday’s match will be a step toward becoming a serious player in collegiate Esports.
