Volleyball Canada and A Greener Future are teaming up to host a Beach Clean Up event today in the Woodbine Beach area.

The clean up will take place on Sunday, Aug. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. and will focus on the area around the Ashbridges Bay beach volleyball courts.

This weekend has seen Volleyball Canada’s Beach Nationals tournament taking place at Ashbridges Bay, bringing in hundreds of players and thousands of fans to the area.

“Wrap up the season of beach volleyball by giving back to the shoreline we all enjoy,” said the organizer of the clean up.

Everyone is invited to take part, and high school students who bring their forms can also use their participation in the clean up towards volunteer hours.

Today’s clean up will be a chance for participants to “connect with like-minded volunteers and eco-conscious athletes,” said the organizers.

A Greener Future is committed to providing opportunities that bring together community volunteers and “inspire action’ to create a clean, healthy environment that can be sustained for generations.
