Kyle Hamilton and Sean Tucker represented Bermuda in Costa Rica
Kyle Hamilton and Sean Tucker secured sixteenth place at the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation Beach Tour in Costa Rica today.
The Bermuda team was defeated in three sets by Justin Bristol and Jedediah Penchoen from St Kitts & Nevis, with scores of 21-18, 18-21, 7-15 in the play-off for fifteenth position.
It was a challenging tournament for the Bermuda duo, who were placed in pool D alongside competitors from Costa Rica, the British Virgin Islands, and El Salvador. Hamilton and Tucker unfortunately lost all three of their group matches.
They commenced with a straight-sets setback against Rafael Vargas and Andoni Mejia from El Salvador, followed by another loss in the same manner to Julian Araya and Stanley Grant, the representatives of the host country.
A final straight-sets defeat to Devin van Siclen and William Clemens from the Virgin Islands placed Bermuda at the bottom of their pool, leading them to a four-team play-off for the thirteenth to sixteenth placements.
In their match against Lucero Perez and Santiago Penegros from Guatemala, Tucker and Hamilton triumphed in their first set of the tournament but ultimately fell short of a win, with scores of 15-21, 22-20, 15-10, setting up a confrontation for the last place against St Kitts.
