Big 12 Week 11 Edition (2025)
It’s onto Week 11 of the Big 12 football season. There were upsets in Week 10 of the Big 12 schedule, blowouts and more. So with that, let’s dive into this week’s Big 12 football power rankings. A reminder on how I do these rankings: They are based on what you have actually done on the field, not what we think you will do throughout the remainder of the season. So, with that, here’s a look at our Week 11 Big 12 football power rankings for the 2025 season.
1. BYU Cougars (Last Week: 1)
The BYU Cougars had a well-deserved bye week, and at this point, there is no reason to move the Cougars off the top spot. But now they head to Lubbock as a sizable underdog at 9.5 or 10.5 points, depending on the book you’re looking at.
2. Texas Tech Red Raiders (Last Week: 4)
Texas Tech took care of business on the road against an improving K-State team, which launches them back into the No. 2 spot in the Power Rankings this week. Tech looked like the team they’ve been most of the season prior to their slip up in Tempe.
3. Utah Utes (Last Week: 5)
The Utah Utes move up to No. 3 after rolling over Cincinnati at home. Yeah, I almost had them at No. 2, but I have to give the head-to-head, as much as it was several weeks ago, to the Red Raiders, especially since the game was in Salt Lake City.
4. Cincinnati Bearcats (Last Week: No. 2)
It’s not fair to say Cincinnati is a paper tiger, but they confirmed many people’s fears last week in a blowout loss at Utah. I was more bought in than many, and that’s on me. Now, they take on Arizona, BYU and TCU to end the season. None of these games are sure bets for the Bearcats. They are still in the Big 12 title hunt, but need to likely win out. Tiebreakers are not favorable to them.
5. Arizona State (Last Week: 6)
No Sam Leavitt? Well, no problem, for ASU. What a road win at Iowa State and what a performance by Jeff Sims, who led the Sun Devils to a dominant performance with nearly 300 rushing yards in Ames. They’re still likely on the outside looking in on the Big 12 race, but that was a great game for the Sun Devils last weekend.
6. Houston Cougars (Last Week: 4)
Houston had the easiest final month of the season of any Big 12 contender, and it all went up in flames on Saturday against winless West Virginia. The Mountaineers were 0-5 in league play and handled the Cougars, forcing turnovers and looking like the more confident team. This was a blown opportunity for Houston.
7. Kansas State Wildcats (Last Week: 7)
Kansas State smoked Kansas two weeks ago, and then returned home and got dominated by Texas Tech, losing the turnover battle 5-2. This loss effectively takes KSU out of the Big 12 title race with four weeks left in the season. This is not where Wildcats fans thought they were going to be heading into the final four weeks of the season.
8. TCU Horned Frogs (Last Week: 8)
TCU was on a bye week after a hard-fought road win over West Virginia. There’s no reason to move the Horned Frogs off of this spot.
9. Iowa State Cyclones (Last Week: No. 9)
The Iowa State Cyclones remain at No. 9. I am giving them the edge over Arizona, given the dominant nature of their head-to-head match up, which ISU won by four scores. But Iowa State has now lost four in a row for the first time since 2022. It’s been a rough stretch in Ames, driven by injuries, but also inconsistent play.
10. Arizona Wildcats (Last Week: No. 10)
Arizona blasted Colorado on Saturday. It was a dominant win. The problem is that Colorado has allowed many teams to blast them, and it’s only gotten worse as the season has progressed. You can only play who is on the schedule.
11. Baylor Bears (Last Week: No. 11)
Baylor stays at No. 11 following a dominant win over UCF that I admit I did not see coming. But once again, not exactly one of the toughest opponent’s in the Big 12. But at least for one week, Dave Aranda has silenced the critics!
12. Kansas Jayhawks (Last Week: 12)
Kansas did what it had to do with a huge win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The first half was weird, even though KU scored on both of their drives. Then they exploded in the second half. I’m still mad they allowed a backdoor cover by the Pokes, but hey, it happens.
13. West Virginia Mountaineers (Last Week: 15)
The West Virginia Mountaineers are moving up after a very good win over Houston on the road. Given their record, I couldn’t shoot them too far up the power rankings, but this team may be gelling, despite lots of injuries. And if they found their QB in Scotty Fox Jr., the future could be bright, quickly, in Morgantown.
14. UCF Knights (Last Week: 14)
UCF came off a bye week and played arguably their worst game of the season. That was ugly on both sides. And it was a game where if they wanted to get to a bowl game, they needed to pull out. And it wasn’t even close.
15. Colorado Buffaloes (Last Week: 15)
The Buffaloes have been outscored 82-7 in their last two first halves. Pathetic. It’s JuJu time at QB. Build for next season. And play the guys who want to give 100% effort. That’s it.
16. Oklahoma State Cowboys (Last Week: 16)
Oklahoma State played a football game, and lost, again. They did cover a spread, so do with that information what you want.
