Big Game Motorsports driver David Gravel used a pair of top-five results last week in Central Pennsylvania to increase his lead in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series championship standings to 134 points.

The two top fives make 19 top-five runs in 21 feature starts this season. That’s a half dozen more top fives than any other driver.

Rain postponed the Gettysburg Clash from last Tuesday to Wednesday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, where Gravel was third quickest in his group. He then placed second in both a heat race and the dash to line up on the outside of the front row in the main event. Gravel ran in a podium position for most of the race before dropping a position in the final lap to end fourth.

The opening night of the HVAC Distributors Morgan Cup hosted by Williams Grove Speedway was rained out on Friday. On Saturday, Gravel timed in second quickest in his group before he won a heat race. Unfortunately, he pulled the highest number – eight – during the dash draw. Gravel gained a trio of positions in the dash to finish fifth.

After losing a spot early in the feature, Gravel rallied as the race went on. He maneuvered into the runner-up position approximately three quarters of the way through the main event and closed on the leader, but ran out of time to make a bid for the lead.

“That’s probably the best I’ve felt at Williams Grove ever in a Feature in this No. 2 car,” Gravel said in a post-race interview on DIRTVision. “Really happy with the race car Cody (Jacobs), Pete (Stephens) and Zach (Patterson) gave me. I felt really good there. I needed the bottom. I felt really good on the bottom, and then the top was the only thing open there at the end. All the lapped cars were low, and I was struggling on the cushion a little bit, but I still felt really good there. Really happy with our performance overall tonight.”

Big Game Motorsports is bound for Canada this week with races on Wednesday and Thursday at Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, during the Federated Auto Parts Showdown at Ohsweken and Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway in Cornwall, Ontario, during the PartSource World of Outlaws Invasion.

Gravel is seeking his first victory at both tracks.
