CHRIS, THANK YOU. BOY, QUITE THE CRUSADE HERE FOR MUELLER TO FINALLY GET A FOOTBALL STADIUM OF ITS OWN. YEAH. PLANS ARE IN PLACE FOR A NEW SPOT IN BLUE ASH, BUT BEFORE IT’S PUSHED ACROSS THE GOAL LINE, MANY NEIGHBORS ARE PLAYING DEFENSE. WLWT NEWS FIVE’S SEAN MACKINNON SPOKE WITH A COUNCIL MEMBER WHO IS HEARING PLENTY OF CONCERNS. SEAN JEFF CAPEL SAYS HE’S GETTING MORE MESSAGES ON THIS PROPOSED STADIUM THAN ANY OTHER ISSUE WHILE HE’S BEEN ON CITY COUNCIL. TONIGHT, PUBLIC COMMENT WAS SET FOR MAY 8TH. THAT’S FOUR WEEKS FROM TONIGHT. AND ALSO THE VOTING PROCESS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO MOVE VERY QUICKLY. A PICTURE PERFECT AFTERNOON AT SUMMIT PARK. HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ENJOYING THE SUNSHINE, KICKING A BALL OR RELAXING ON THE MAD TREE PATIO COULD HAVE A NEW NEIGHBOR RIGHT NEXT TO THE PARK. BLUE ASH CITY COUNCIL IS CONSIDERING TURNING THESE FIELDS INTO A5000 SEAT FOOTBALL STADIUM SURROUNDED BY THREE HOTELS, RESTAURANTS AND ENTERTAINMENT. OF ALL THE THINGS THEY COULD BUILD, THE STADIUM SEEMS VERY STRANGE. AND THERE’S A LOT OF TRAFFIC ALREADY, WHICH IS GREAT. IT’S GREAT THAT WE LIVE SO CLOSE TO THIS, BUT IT’S NOT GOING TO BE SO GREAT ON FRIDAY NIGHTS DURING FOOTBALL SEASON. I HAVE ONE MOTION. WE WENT TO COUNCIL TONIGHT WHERE PUBLIC COMMENT SESSION WAS SET FOR MAY 8TH. COUNCIL MEMBER JEFF CAPEL IS ALREADY CONCERNED WITH TRANSPARENCY. THE DEVELOPER OUT HERE WOULD COME INTO THE COUNCIL MEETING AND HAVE A LONG DISCUSSION WITH COUNCIL ABOUT WHAT WE WOULD SUPPORT AND WHAT WE WOULD NOT SUPPORT. THAT DISCUSSION WAS NEVER PLACED ON THE AGENDA, SO RESIDENTS DIDN’T EVEN KNOW THAT IT WAS HAPPENING UNTIL AFTER IT WAS OVER. THAT DID NOT SIT WELL WITH ME. HE SAYS THE STADIUM WOULD BE FOR MOELLER HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL, AND WORRIES IT WOULD BE LOCKED UP WHEN THEY’RE NOT USING IT. SO WE’RE GOING TO HAVE THIS BIG STRUCTURE RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR PARC CONSUMING PRIME REAL ESTATE, AND YOU COULDN’T EVEN JUST GO WALK AROUND THE TRACK WHEN IT’S NOT OTHERWISE IN USE. PEOPLE AT SUMMIT PARK SHARING MIXED REVIEWS. NO. FOR REAL, THAT’S GOING TO BE NICE. THEY’RE GOING TO LOVE IT. THEY DON’T THINK THEY’RE IN THE NFL. YEAH, THAT’S A BIG STADIUM. THERE’S PLENTY OF ANIMALS THAT USE THAT. IT’S NICE TO HAVE OPEN GREEN SPACE. WE DON’T NEED EVERYTHING TO BE BUILT UP. OTHER COUNCIL MEMBERS TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT COMMENT COMMENT ON THE STADIUM UNTIL THE DEVELOPER PRESENTS THE PLANS. MOELLER HIGH SCHOOL ALSO WOULD NOT COMMENT TONIGHT. THE CITY MANAGER SAYS COUNCIL COULD VOTE ON THE STADIUM AS EARLY AS MAY 8TH, BUT TYPICALLY A SECOND READING AND A VOTE WOULD HAPPEN THIS JUNE. WE’RE LIVE IN BLU
