MILWAUKEE – Marquette University track & field student-athlete Riley Ward is the Blue & Gold Student-Athlete of the Month for September, as chosen by Marquette Athletics’ Academics and Programs staff.

Ward is a marketing major in the College of Business Administration with a minor in psychology. She has earned AD Honor Roll and Big East Academic awards every year at Marquette. This summer, she interned with the Milwaukee Brewers Community Foundation supporting the organization’s charitable initiatives and fundraising efforts.

Her experiences there have included coordinating on-field experiences like first pitches and scoreboard messaging working with donation-fulfillment initiatives. Behind the scenes, Ward helped coordinate the annual 5k and 10k Famous Racing Sausages Run Walks and Brewers Community Foundation scholarship events. On some gamedays, she steps in to sell 50/50 raffle tickets during games with proceeds benefitting Brewers charities.

The Phoenix, Arizona native competed in javelin in eight events for Marquette in outdoor, including setting the program record at the Uncaged Eagle Open on May 9 with a 42.35-meter throw. Ward finished sixth at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships.
