Earlier in the evening, the CCHS junior varsity team dropped a 54-48 decision vs. Perrysburg.Junior Manny Johnson paced a balanced Fighting Irish attack with a season-tying best 21 points.  A 6-foot-3 guard, Johnson has now scored in double figures 7 times this year.Sophomore Isaiah Mack-Russell also contributed 15 points in the non-conference matchup, while classmate Cayden Kynard tallied 12 points.Evan Sterling led the Yellow Jackets (6-3) with 17 points, while Carter Young finished with 11 points.CCHS outscored the host Yellow Jackets 40-24 in the 2nd half to successfully bounce back from a loss earlier in the week.The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team hammered Perrysburg, 83-56, on Thursday in the PHS Gym.  With the impressive road victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 7-2 on the season.Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against arch-rival St. Francis de Sales on Tuesday, January 14, starting with the freshmen game at 4:15 p.m. in the Sullivan Center Gym.  Tickets for Tuesday’s Catholic High School League (CHSL) contest can be purchased at bit.ly/3EjJhky.The Scarlet & Gray also benefited from 9 points each by junior Draden Wardrop, junior Kaeden Carruthers, and junior Cailan Hornbeak to surpass the 70-point mark for the 4th-time this winter.
