Brazos Valley Catholic youth league asks for help after sports trailer stolen
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) -A trailer belonging to Victory Youth Sports, a Catholic nonprofit serving families across Bryan-College Station, was stolen Friday from the parking lot of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. The trailer contained more than $19,000 worth of equipment used for youth soccer games, including a riding mower, generators, a PA system, and tons of other sports equipment.
Robyn Romansky, director of youth sports for Victory, says the trailer served as a portable field house for the league’s championship weekend and was vital to hosting game-day operations for over 300 children.
“It’s not just sports—it’s teaching virtue and faith through competition,” she said. “Some of these kids wouldn’t otherwise get the chance to play.”
Surveillance footage provided by church staff shows a black Cadillac Escalade pulling into the parking lot around 11:38 a.m. Friday. By noon, the vehicle had hitched the trailer and exited the property. Witnesses later reported sightings of the trailer headed south on Highway 6 and later in Montgomery County.
Dennis Macha, executive director of Red-C Apostolate—the umbrella organization overseeing Victory Youth Sports—called the incident a spiritual attack.
“It was a blessing, and then it was gone. But we believe in answering evil with goodness,” said Macha.
He says that after learning of the theft, the group immediately began praying for those responsible.
“It’s important to pray for your enemies. Jesus calls us to love those who persecute you. And while it’s important to do, I will admit it is very difficult to do because, you know, we pray that they have a flat tire, but we also don’t want to pray that they’re hurt in the process,’ said Macha. “Our human temptation is to pray for revenge. But we’ve got to call upon mercy, and our God is merciful.”
“We’re asking whoever took it to please return it,” Robyn added. “God is merciful. We just want the kids to keep playing.”
The theft comes at a critical time, with the final games of the soccer season scheduled for this weekend. Despite the setback, volunteers have stepped in to help. One grandparent even offered to mow the fields.
Red-C and Victory leaders are asking for community support. Donations are being accepted at victoryyouthsports.org to help replace equipment and keep the league running. They’re also in need of volunteer referees as the season wraps up.
College Station police are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact them. The stolen trailer is clearly marked with Red-C signage and may still be in the Houston area.
