PARK CITY, UTAH – Ella Bromee led the University of Alaska Anchorage ski team with a 13th-place finish in the giant slalom at the RMISA Alpine Qualifier Saturday.
“We took our shots today,” said head coach Sparky Anderson. “Everyone battled their best. Jan had a heater going second run but got inside 10 gates from the finish. He made an impressive recovery and still finished, but lost a lot of time. Dylan and Olivia flipped it today and got into the points for GS which was good. The guys are clawing their way back. We’re just running out of runway so things need to come together quick. The ladies had some chances as well. Conditions played a big role and took out nearly half the field. It wasn’t the day we wanted or the results, but I think this group is getting more comfortable on this relentlessly steep and icy Olympic venue. Tomorrow is a new day.”
Alaska Anchorage will compete in the giant slalom at the Utah Invite Sunday.
Jan Ronner finished 18th (2:05.68) to lead the UAA men.
Bromee finished in a two-run combined time of 2:11.72.
