NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace was almost the cause of a big wreck on Sunday at the Enjoy Illinois 300.
During the lap 156 restart, Bubba Wallace led the field, with Kyle Larson in second position on the outside.
In the No. 23 Toyota, the 23XI Racing driver could not get his car into gear, leading to him slowing down and almost causing Larson to rear-end Wallace.
The No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet managed to avoid Wallace by a hair, but the pair ended up falling back in the field.

Wallace ended up apologizing to Larson after the race, explaining what happened to his car.
“I did it the restart before, and it was fine. I need to go back and study how to do it better, but hate it,” Wallace told Kelly Crandall.
“I don’t know if it gave the five (Kyle Larson) damage, but they were solid cars.”
The No.23 car driver finished in eighth place despite the incident and sits in fourth place overall in the playoff standings. He is 50 points above the cutline and looks poised to advance.
Larson also addressed the near-misses and rued the chance to get a better result than 12th.
“It was a great race for us. We had a great, great car. Just a restart when the 23 (Wallace) wasn’t able to get going, I think it messed our strategy up and whatnot after that. That was unfortunate.”
While he did end up finishing lower than his car’s pace showed, Larson should end up moving on to the next round of the playoffs, sitting in third and above Wallace.
