Buffs Win Their 13th Straight Lone Star Conference Championship
CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes placed five runners inside the Top-10 on Saturday morning as they won their 13th consecutive Lone Star Conference Men’s Cross Country Championships at AP Ranch in Fort Worth, Texas.
Adrian Legarreta finished second overall with a time of 23:54.73 followed by Matthys Bourse in 3rd (24:37.18), Tommasso Toppi in 4th (24:58.64), Branch Cox in 5th (25:09.74) and Fintan Kavanaugh in 6th (25:10.49).
Texas A&M International’s Ian Rono won the LSC Individual Championship as the freshman from Eldoret, Kenya ran a time of 23:31.49.
Emil Meggle claimed a 27th place finish with a time of 25:59.19) followed by Adrian Solis in 40th (26:92.62), Shane Ketchum in 43rd (26:33.90), Jordan Purcell in 64th (27:28.01) and Rudy Juarez in 76th (27:50.56).
West Texas A&M’s 13th straight crown saw the Buffs register 20 total points followed by Dallas Baptist (77), UT Tyler (93), Oklahoma Christian (134) and Cameron (169) to round out the top five. WT’s current run of titles is the second longest stream in league history behind Abilene Christian (20, 1991-2010).
WT turns their attention to preparation for the NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday, November 8th at Walking Stick Golf Club in Pueblo, Colorado.
