CACHE, Okla. (KSWO) – The trophy case over in Cache has had a recent influx of ESports additions and may soon have even more coming to it.

The Bulldogs are dominant, not just in the state but across the country, and have high hopes of bringing their first national title back home to the dog pound.

“Currently we’re in the playoffs, going into round two and we’re undefeated for the season,” said Head Coach Josh English. “So we have high expectations for our team and we think we can bring home a national championship for Cache, a first for the school.”

The team comprises of members skilled in a variety of games, whether it be Super Smash Bro’s, Apex Legends, Call of Duty, but the ones they excel at are Mario Kart and Rainbow Six Siege.

The Siege team is the one who’s tearing through the competition in the playoffs and has been putting in tons of hours perfecting their game.

“We are currently undefeated the entire regular season and the first game of playoffs going into the national ESports league,” stated senior Christopher Gregory. “So that’s pretty exciting for Rainbow Six Siege. We spend hundreds of hours practicing our game, aim training, going over maps, going over how to set things up.”

For the seniors on the team who have been playing together for the last three years, they’ve spent a lot of time working with each other and building up chemistry.

They believe that bond is going to carry them to gold.

“We probably as a team have over 15,000 hours on the game,” senior Austin Mavity explained. “Probably more than that. With the amount that we play together, it’s just, that you can’t beat us when we’re together. For three years that we’ve been playing together, we’ve just grown in chemistry and have not been stopped by a team.”

Their Mario Kart team is also a force to be reckoned with, playing Thursday for a regional championship against Edmond Santa Fe and well on their way to a national playoff berth.

One of the team captains Andrew Bartlett says it’s all a team effort and trying to go it alone will get you nowhere.

“You have to work with your teammates,” voiced Bartlett. “You can’t win this individually, there’s no way. You could be one of the best players but if you can’t work with your team, you’re not going to win. That’s one of the biggest things I’ve realized. It’s got me to be a better leader, a better example, and come up with good strategies to win.”
