Jurupa Valley addressed the forfeits in a statement:
“We understand and acknowledge the disappointment of our Jurupa Valley High School athletes who are ready and prepared to play. Decisions to cancel matches were made by teams in other districts.
As a public school district in California, JUSD is compelled to follow the law, which protects students from discrimination based on gender identity and requires that students be permitted to participate on athletic teams that are consistent with their gender identity (California Education Code 221.5 (f)). This is consistent with the guidance provided by California Attorney General Rob Bonta and California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond.
We are proud of our JVHS Jaguars and their willingness to play any team and represent their school and our district with pride. We are currently working to find additional matches to give them that opportunity.”

Debate erupts over transgender student on high school volleyball team – WGN News at 9

The transgender student in question attends Conant High School and reportedly is no longer on the girls volleyball team.
According to an Outkick story….A trans-identifying biological male at James B. Conant High School in Illinois, who reportedly stands 6-foot-4, made the freshman girls volleyball team despite never having previously played the sport.
A parent of one of the freshman girls said around 70 girls tried out for the team and only 23 made it – along with the male to complete the 24-player roster.
In addition, a longtime girls’ volleyball coach allegedly resigned her position after being forced to allow the male – who is also allegedly using the girls’ bathroom and locker room facilities, according to parents – on the girls’ team.
The meeting got so heated that the board president had to request police officers escort a woman in the audience from the room for disrupting the meeting.
