CAVE CREEK, AZ (AZFamily) — Dustin Amann says he has reached his limit. After a year and a half, he still doesn’t have his damaged off-road vehicle fixed, even though the $26,000 in repairs were paid for in full by his insurance company.

“I don’t know why he can’t just do the right thing and get me the car back like we had always discussed,” Amann told On Your Side. “I don’t understand it. I don’t know why he’s wanting to do this. It’s his own reputation.”

Amann is talking about Richard Jeffries. In a previous On Your Side report, Amann explained how he trailered his damaged UTV 17 months ago to a place called Jeffries Performance, where Jeffries claimed he could repair it for $26,000.

So, Amann filed an insurance claim and says all $26,000 was forwarded to Jeffries and Jeffries Performance. Looking back, Amann tells On Your Side that it was a huge mistake.

“Oh, 100%. I wish that I would have rather gotten the check and then paid them whatever I needed to, to order the parts and then pay them the rest, you know, when the job was done,” he said.

After getting all $26,000, Jeffries eventually closed down his shop and moved Amann’s wrecked vehicle to another shop called Luxe Motorsports, where Amann says it remains, unrepaired.

So, On Your Side went to Luxe Motorsports to talk to Jeffries, also known as RJ. “Hello, I’m looking for RJ,” On Your Side’s Gary Harper asked an employee.

We were told Jeffries wasn’t around and once we left, On Your Side was immediately contacted by his attorney, who demanded that we not visit Luxe Motorsports or try to contact Jeffries again.

On Your Side has honored that request, but we did circle back with Amann to find out the latest on his UTV. And according to Amann, Jeffries is now demanding more money.

“He’s now holding the vehicle basically hostage,” Amann said. “He’s added in a bunch of random parts and random items and another 25 hours of labor. He’s now added in about $11,500 worth of other charges.”

“That’s on top of the $26,000 your insurance has already paid?” Harper asked.

“Correct. So now he’s telling me that I need to pay the difference, or he could possibly add a mechanics lien, and they’re holding the vehicle. It’s still just a nightmare,” Amann replied.

On Your Side reached out to Jeffries’ attorney, telling him we were airing another news report and we asked for an update on Amann’s vehicle, which reportedly remains at Luxe Motorsports. However, we never heard back from him.

In the meantime, Amann tells us he has received enormous support from the UTV community, saying they’re monitoring his situation and hope he gets his vehicle back soon.
