CHANDLER SMITH, No. 38 QuickTie Ford F-150 – POST-RACE PRESS CONFERENCE

TAKE US THROUGH THAT WILD LAST LAP. “I did everything wrong, to be completely honest with you. I spun the tires. The 11 cleared me right off the rip. My teammate cleared me right off of two and going down the backstretch I was like, ‘You know, I’m gonna let these guys race it out now.’ The 34 let me by. When I had a tire advantage they beat me straight up here. If an opportunity presents itself to go win, I’ll take it. But if it don’t, I’m gonna let these guys race it out. It’s the right thing to do. I ended up getting a decent run through three and four and was able to get about half to a car length back and they went into turn one and raced really hard. The seas parted and here we are.”

WAS THERE CONTACT BETWEEN LAYNE AND COREY? IT WAS HARD TO TELL FROM THE CAMERA ANGLE. “I had a good view of it. From everything that I saw before I ducked down and went super low and made my move to go to the inside of Layne, the 34 was just chasing the 11 all the way up the track and Corey’s got as good a sense if a guy is loose underneath him to give room and Layne just kept running him up and he kept going up and up and up. I don’t know. I think it was super slick in one all day today, especially when it rubbered up and it was super greasy. I’m not saying this because he’s my teammate and I won the race. I’m saying I actually understand it’s the last lap, sending it in there, trying to just rub him a little bit and I about did the same thing. I personally didn’t see anything egregious, but, at the same time, I had a very early apex of the corner and was able to get pointed and get to the inside of the 34 pretty quick.”

HOW DO YOU SUM UP THE RACING EXPERIENCE HERE AT NWS? “It’s good. The only experience I had here before was in the No. 13 Kaulig car when I was trying to qualify for the All-Star Race and that was before they even repaved this place. Man, it wore tires out and was super wore out. Honestly, I loved that, but I haven’t been here since they repaved it, so I was surprised how wide the track got. I liked how wide it got because you could race from the bottom or the top. Our truck favored the bottom all day and that made it a huge advantage for us being able to come from the back and get to the front, so a big tip of the cap to everybody at Front Row Motorsports for giving me a truck that’s got good maneuverability so we can make the most of it today.”

THE WES BUCK SHOW – EPISODE 388
“THE WTF BUCK FLYING CORVETTE SHOW”

SOME WEEKS IT’S HORSEPOWER.
SOME WEEKS IT’S HEAD GAMES.
THIS WEEK? WE’RE TALKIN’ FLIGHT PLANS.

Welcome to The WTF Buck Flying Corvette Show, where things went airborne, Pro Mods went rounds, and racers reminded the world why this is the baddest motorsport on the planet.

First up, Jeff Rudolph. The dude showed out and locked down a Pro Mod win at Donald “Duck” Long’s Shakedown event this past weekend. Big field, big pressure, big performance. He’s comin’ on to break it all down and talk about what it takes to win in that kind of chaos.

Then, we’re chattin’ with the man behind one of the wildest viral clips drag racing’s seen in a minute, Jason Hoard. His nearly brand-new Corvette took FLIGHT in a scary crash at a small no-prep race, mid-track, nose-up, full send. Thankfully, he’s okay, but it was one of those “is this even real?” moments. We’re hearing the story straight from the guy behind the wheel.

And later in the show, Kallee Mills is stopping by fresh off a big W of her own. She’s on the rise, and we’re checkin’ in to hear what went right, how it felt, and what’s next.

Three guests. Three wild stories.
All gas. No filter.

Wes Buck, JT “Murder T” Hudson, and Mike Carpenter are locked in and ready to roll—LET’S FLY!

DON’T MISS IT! LET’S GOOOOO!

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has spoken out after news leaked that NASCAR co-owner Jim France was considering funding a Cup Series entry for the upcoming Sonoma race on July 13.

NASCAR CEO Jim France, who is involved in a legal tussle involving 23XI Racing, the team co-owned by Michael Jordan, and Front Row Motorsports, faced intense criticism when it was revealed he intended to support a Spire Motorsports entry for Jack Aitken, who drives for the IMSA sports car team France owns, Action Express Racing.

The Athletic reported that the controversy surrounding the potential conflict of interest prompted France, the son of NASCAR founder Bill France Sr., to perform a U-turn and withdraw from the deal.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. shared his perspective on his podcast, the Dale Jr. Download, remarking: “At this point, it just doesn’t seem like it’s very productive to do it now, and Jim doesn’t need to do it.

“It’s not like a viable business proposition or opportunity that I think that’s necessary for him as a businessman to do it, right?”

“It’s kind of one of them fun things that you kind of want to do with your buddies, but it’s not necessary because dude owns a sport.

“Jim’s not out here trying to fool anybody…Thought it’d be cool, but he probably doesn’t need to be in the same conversation around ownership of an actual physical car on the racetrack as the owner of NASCAR.

“I think that would probably be my preference. I’m not upset about it because I do it on the CARS Tour.”

In his podcast, ‘Actions Detrimental,’ Denny Hamlin admits he fought vehemently against a contentious decision, being 23XI Racing’s co-owner.

“I can tell you as a car owner, I fought very, very hard and opposed the fact that the France family could own charters. I think that’s just wildly conflict of interest,” Hamlin commented.

There’s little debate about the burgeoning popularity of Formula 1 racing — the upcoming “F1 The Movie” stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris and is slated to be a summer blockbuster, attendance at races is extremely high, and series offerings such as “Drive to Survive” and “F1: The Academy” only reinforce the strength of motorsports audiences at this current point in time.

Now, as Forbes detailed, a fashion icon is set to enter the mix alongside the launch of a new F1 racing team.

Tommy Hilfiger is set to partner with the new Cadillac F1 team as its official apparel label, with branding appearing both in press kits for the race team as well as in news related to a slew of fanwear that will drop March 2026, coinciding with that racing season and the introduction of Cadillac on the track.

“Tommy Hilfiger logo placement will grace technical gear such as the driver’s suit, helmet and race car for the new Cadillac Formula 1 team, which was created by TWG Motorsports and General Motors,” Forbes reported.

In advance of the F1 movie hitting theaters June 27, Tommy Hilfiger has launched its “F1 The Movie” APXGP Collection in its stores across the globe, in tandem with wholesale partners as well as its website. Idris already serves as a Tommy Hilfiger brand ambassador and is heavily featured in the collection’s marketing campaign.

Tommy Hilfiger and Cadillac Team Principal Believe Partnership Will Drive Success

Tommy Hilfiger has a history with motorsport, with previous partnerships including those with Team Lotus in 1991, as well as a more recent 2018 team-up under the banner of the Mercedes-AMG team via the stewardship of Lewis Hamilton, per NSS Sports. Hilfiger himself has made no secret of his lifelong love of motorsports, as the outlet noted.

In advance of the race season to come, both Hilfiger and his counterpart on the front line of the newest F1 team’s entry into the sport, Cadillac Formula 1 Team Principal Graeme Lowdon, appear enthusiastic about the prospects of their partnership.

“These two iconic American brands come together with a colorful history in visual culture. I love racing’s iconic graphics. The uniforms are very cool with patches, logos, and team names. It’s rich in design territory. We had insight into the Cadillac team’s design direction; it will look incredible across the collections,” Hilfiger said.

“Tommy has known Formula 1 for a long time. It’s the pinnacle of motorsport, like Cadillac is for luxury automobiles. Cadillac’s brand values are bold, sophisticated, and optimistic. That was a natural fit with the Tommy Hilfiger brand. Combining this offers an ambitious, confident outlook. The chemistry, vision, and passion felt right from the start. Racing is about passion and desire to win,” Lowden added.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame is requesting $25 million from Charlotte to expand and modernize the venue.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The NASCAR Hall of Fame is hitting the gas on a major expansion plan — and it’s looking to the city of Charlotte to help fuel the ride.

The Hall, which opened in 2010, is requesting $25 million from the city to fund five significant upgrades aimed at enhancing visitor experience, increasing event capacity and modernizing the venue.

A presentation to Charlotte City Council this week revealed the NASCAR Hall of Fame welcomed more than 200,000 visitors last year and has provided the city with an estimated economic impact of $75 million. Visitors often stay for multiple nights and travel long distances, boosting hotel demand.

“Most of my family are NASCAR fans,” Corey DeVolke, who was visiting from Jacksonville, said.

For some families closer to home, the Hall has become a memorable destination.

“We did basically everything there is to do, and everything is so much fun,” Logan Birchmeier said after touring the Hall with his family.

City leaders are calling the Hall an economic engine for Charlotte. City Council member Malcolm Graham says it’s been a key component to keeping the city’s brand hot.

“This has been good for tourism, it’s been good for our brand,” Graham said. “I think we need to continue to evolve it so it will continue to be an asset for us.”

If approved, the $25 million would go toward five key improvements:

  • Relocation of the Gear Shop retail space

  • Creation of a dedicated education center

  • Café relocation for better visitor flow

  • New enclosed event space on the fourth floor

  • Enhanced security infrastructure

The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority is backing the resolution, pointing to the motorsports industry’s $6 billion annual impact on North Carolina’s economy — $4.5 billion of which is generated in the Charlotte region.

Charlotte City Council is expected to vote on the funding request in the coming months.
