CHARLES CITY, Iowa. (KTTC) – Charles City Fire Rescue said on its Facebook page that it responded to a “major fire” in downtown Charles City Saturday evening. The department said it got a call about the fire just after 5:30 p.m.

According to the department, the call said there was smoke coming from the roof at 108 N. Main. Due to the severity of the fire, the department said multiple crews from different departments responded as well, to “ensure the public is safe while we do our job.”

The fire department thanked all agencies that responded and said it “had more help than we need.”

KTTC will update this story with more information when it becomes available.
