LIBERTY OPEN
Sarah Brown took home the gold in the women’s pole vault with a height of 4.27m and Alicia Johnson came in second with a height of 3.82m.
Sarah Brown is competing in the women’s pole vault, an event in which she leads the American Conference in. Brown earned a new personal best of 4.28m at the Bob Pollock Invitational two weekends ago which was good to lead the conference standings.

AREAS TO WATCH
Joyasia Smith holds the meet record in the women’s 200m with a time of 23.30 which she set at the meet last year. She will be competing in the same event this year along with Khia Holloway and Aniya Matthews. Smith is also on school-record watch in the women’s 60m dash which she is also competing in.
Jordan McNair was the best Charlotte finisher in the men’s high jump where he cleared the bar at a height of 1.96m. In the men’s long jump Amir El Amin placed second with a jump of 7.18m.
Bryce Anderson is on school record watch in the men’s 1 mile race. Anderson currently sits at third all time and is just over a second off the school record.
Anna Wells led the Charlotte women in the women’s 3000m where she came in fifth with a time of 9:54.94. Austin Heft (10:24.38), Lilian Nasta (10:30.16), Jenna VanRyn (10:35.25), Lauren Wimberly (10:39.52), and Alyson Rankin (10:52.22) also competed in the event.
Junior Chaunesse Barringer came in third in the women’s long jump with a distance of 5.81m. Sasha Gregory was not too far behind Barringer, placing sixth in the event with a distance of 5.66m. Freshman Cassidy Adams also competed in the event with a distance of 5.52m.
Colin Johnson placed fifth in the men’s pole vault with a height of 4.55m. Connor Weatherington also competed in the event where he cleared the bar at a height of 4.40m.
Elijah Jones raced in the men’s 3000m race where he crossed the line with a time of 8:36.73.
CHARLOTTE – Charlotte Track and Field gears up to compete at the Darius Dixon Invite in Lynchburg, Va. for their final two-day meet before conference championships this Friday and Saturday. This week will feature performances in every area aside from throws.
Andrew Mallo leads the American in the men’s 800m with a time of 1:50.13 which he ran at the Bob Pollock Invitational. This performance was good for a new personal best and was two tenths of a second off the school record.
Gregory also competed in the women’s high jump where she came in first with a height of 1.67m which equals her personal best.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend Charlotte split into two different meets: the Liberty Open and the Camel City Invite. Liberty saw action from the field athletes, while Camel City showcased the distance racers.
