MARION, Ind. — Wiley University’s Ronald Garrett wrapped his sophomore season by competing this past week in the 2025 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) 73rd Annual Men’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championship at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Garrett finished fourth in his heat and 10th overall in the 110-meter hurdles preliminary with a time of 14.54. Entering the race with the 21st time out of 21 athletes, he was 0.02 seconds away from qualifying for the final.

“Considering where he was ranked and how he finished, Garrett ran an impressive race,” head coach Christopher McConnell said. “He was disciplined, dedicated and determined all season. I’m proud of him and look forward to seeing him on the podium next year.”

Garrett won the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) 110-meter hurdles individual title and finished runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles. He earned HBCUAC Track Athlete of the Week twice.

Wiley is losing seniors Joseph Levier III and Xavier Hutchinson. Along with Garrett, the Wildcats will return several contributors. Javoun Goldsby won the 5,000-meter run and contributed to Wiley’s win in the 4 x 800-meter relay at the 2025 HBCUAC Championship with Jaylon Donson, Jaden Cole, and Ameariun Harper. Caleb Benefield placed in the javelin and threw personal bests in the shot put and discus throws.
