Colyer tallies fifth weekly conference award
Colyer’s fifth Big Ten weekly award is tied with Sydney Hilley in program history for most honors in a single season, as Hilley notched the Big Ten Setter of the Week on five separate occasions during the 2021 season to lead the Badgers to a National Title.
The senior put together two efficient showings in Wisconsin’s wins over the holiday week, beginning with a 20-kill outing against Northwestern in a four-set victory. Colyer has racked up 20 or more kills in 10 matches this season, in addition to tallying 12 digs en route to her seventh double-double of the year—eclisping the 1,000-dig milestone in her storied career.
Colyer followed it up with a .367 hitting percentage (13 – 2 – 30) against No. 18 Minnesota on the road on Black Friday—accumulating double-digit kill totals in the last 14 matches of the season. That mark ranks fourth all-time for most consecutive matches with 10 or more kills.
The Lincoln, California, native shattered the Badgers’ program record for most kills in a conference season, turning in 345 by the season’s conclusion. Former UW standout and 2023 AVCA National Player of the Year, Sarah Franklin, posted 308 last season. In 65 conference sets, Colyer averaged 5.31 kills and 5.95 points.
Fans can catch Colyer and the rest of the Badgers in action for the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, as Wisconsin is slated to host Eastern Illinois on Thursday, Dec. 4. The match will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of North Carolina vs No. 6 UTEP, which is set to start at 4:30 p.m. CT. Thursday’s battle will be streamed on ESPN+.
