A lot of individuals frequently appreciate Crescent Beach, even during the chillier months, but this Sunday (Dec. 15), there’s an extra incentive to visit the South Surrey waterfront.
This is the day the Crescent Beach Yacht Club hosts its yearly sail past event, a beloved occasion for both club members and the general public.
Scheduled for 5 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 15, the procession of vividly adorned boats will navigate from Crescent Beach Marina, heading east along the Nicomekl River to Nico Wynd Golf Course, and then back down the river (westward), passing under the rail bridge, alongside Blackie Spit to the Crescent Beach pier and beyond, as per the CYBC. The gleaming vessels will then return to the marina.
The Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue’s boat will lead the fleet with White Rock Sea Tours, accompanied by private members from the Crescent Beach Yacht Club and the RCMP Shipriders, weather permitting.
This year, the CBYA is accepting food bank contributions to support the local community during the holiday season, with donation bins set up at the yacht club, 12555 Crescent Rd., Surrey, and Natalino’s Pizza, 12211 Beecher St. (open 4-8 p.m.) in Crescent Beach.
Bins will be accessible until the event and will be collected and taken to the food bank the following day, as noted by the CYBC.
