Cross Country Takes Sixth at MAC Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Western Michigan cross country team placed sixth at the MAC Championships earlier today, having four runners finish in the top 50. 

As she has all season, Lily Overton paced the Broncos. She finished in 19th place with a time of 21:22.5. Following her was Lara Machado Pereira, who crossed the finish line in 29th place with a PR time of 21:38.0. 

Kaelin Hughes was one of the top freshman at the meet, earning 32nd place. She posted a time of 21:42.4, which made her the fifth fastest freshman at the event. The fourth WMU runner to finish was Ava Kurczewski, as she placed 46th with a time of 22:08.7. 

Rounding out the scoring lineup was Larissa McGrath. She clocked a time of 22:30.5 to finish in 61st place. Rebekah Asselin (22:34.2), Lauren Sancrant (22:39.0) and Madison Zarembski (22:50.0) were also strong, as they all placed in the top 75. Asselin’s time was a PR and Sancrant set a season-best mark. 

UP NEXT

The Broncos will look ahead to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet. That is set for Nov. 14 in Evansville, Ind.
