A new part of the Gaffer District’s summer event series, Cruisin’ on Bridge hosted by 607 Motorsports, will hit the city’s Northside on Aug. 23, bringing a car display, live music and local vendors to downtown Corning.
The event marks the first for the Gaffer District under new executive director Catherine Price.
“I’m excited for this to be my first event downtown,” said Price. “It’s a wonderful family event. It’s relaxing, people can come down to see some pretty cars, get something to eat and listen to some live music.”
The event, sponsored by Williams Toyota of Elmira, will be held from 4-8 p.m. in the downtown section of Bridge Street.
“We’ve never tried anything like this before,” said Joe Carey, owner of Carey’s Brew House at 58 Bridge St. “I think it’s a great idea. In the past, we’ve had some smaller car shows that piggybacked on other events, but nothing like this. I’m really looking forward to it.”
The event will feature a car display put on by 607 Motorsports, food, vendors and live music. A Kids Power Wheels Race supported by Williams Toyota of Elmira is aimed at a younger audience.
The Kids Power Wheels Race is free to enter, and cars will be provided for those who don’t have one. A Power Wheel will be taken home by one lucky participant with the winner drawn raffle-style. Inflatable bounce houses will also be onsite with food available from local restaurants and food trucks.
