“As widely published this week, 2025 may set me on a new path with some exciting opportunities,” he said. “Before any of that happens it’s very important for me to make clear how grateful I am of all the fans, staff and players at Everton FC for the support they have given me.

Dele was previously an England regular, having played at Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Yet he hasn’t featured for The Three Lions since making his 37th international appearance five years ago.

“Dele’s feeling good. He’s a wonderful player. If we can help him, we’re more than happy. At the moment, he’s only training with us.”

The former England international has not played a competitive match since February 2023, when he was on loan with Turkish club Besiktas, with his recent career having been blighted by injury issues.

Como, who are currently a mere point above the relegation zone in 16th, are set to take on fellow strugglers Lecce on Monday.
