POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – In their first appearance in the MAAC Water Polo Semifinal since 2005, Villanova was outlasted by the host institution, Marist University, by a score of 9-5.

Anna Painter scored two goals in the contest, totaling four goals across the tournament.

Marist struck twice to start the game, with Riley Hull answering back with 5:20 remaining in the first to start the scoring for VU.

Adrienne Grimes scored to knot things up four minutes later, tallying her second goal in as many days while tying her career high for goals in a season with 13.

Kendell De Beer and Lela McCarroll of the Red Foxes cashed in on four of the next five goals in the match, with Layla Canales adding one with 1:21 left in the first half, to enter intermission with Marist leading 6-4.

The home team scored quickly to open the third stanza, with Painter answering two minutes later.

That goal would be the final one that the Wildcats would score in the event, as Inés Sánchez and the Marist defense held VU scoreless for the final 11:02.

Rachel Stephens stopped 11 shots in net for the second game in a row. The freshman made 22 saves while only allowing 15 goals during the tournament, good for a .594% save percentage across the two games.

Ella Mattocks drew five exclusions and had a career-high two assists.

SENIORS

Amelia Baca, Emma Grabenstetter, Adrienne Grimes, and Emily McKenzie end their careers as the winningest players in program history, being part of 75 wins over their four years with the program.

McKenzie finishes her career 10th in program history in goals, with 181.

Head coach Michael Gordon has inked four signees over the season, one at each attacker, center, utility, and goalie.

America’s finest Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers have been battling fiercely at The Expo at World Market Center, putting on electrifying matches as they fight for a ticket to Final X or a coveted spot on the U.S. World Team.

Day 4 is one of the best, kicking off matches in the U20 and U17 Freestyle divisions, where many high school state champions will begin their pursuit of another championship.

Later this evening, we’ll also witness the culmination of the stacked Senior Mens Freestyle division, with finals raging onward beginning at 9 p.m. ET.

BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 7 Texas Beach Volleyball earned a 3-0 sweep over No. 8 Florida State on Saturday to win the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Tournament championship at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium. With the victory, the Longhorns (27-9) claimed their first conference title in their first season in the league. 

In Saturday’s championship match, the No. 4 pair of Noa Sonneville and Macey Butler gave Texas an early 1-0 lead with a 21-16, 14-21, 15-12 victory. In a back-and-forth duel that featured 11 match points in the decisive third set, the No. 2 duo of Emma Grace Robertson and Katie Hashman claimed a 21-16, 14-21, 24-22 win to increase UT’s cushion to 2-0. 

The No. 3 pair of Maddison Parmelly and Karin Zolnercikova then clinched the tournament championship for the Longhorns with a 21-7, 16-21, 15-10 win. 

The CCSA All-Tournament Team was announced following Saturday’s championship match. A trio of Longhorn pairs were selected to the team, including Sonneville/Butler, Zolnercikova/Parmelly and Robertson/Hashman. In addition, Robertson and Hashman were chosen as the Pair of the Tournament.

The selection show for the 2025 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship is scheduled for Sunday, April 27 at Noon CT and will be streamed on NCAA.com. The NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship will take place on May 2-4 (Friday-Sunday) in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

YOUNGSVILLE, La. – After a thrilling three days in Youngsville, Louisiana, the No. 1 seed and No. 16 ranked Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team defeated No. 2 seed Tulane, 3-1, to capture the 2025 Conference USA Championship title on Saturday at Sugar Beach.
 
The championship marks the second CUSA championship and third overall for the Sandy Owls.
 
Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova continued their dominate weekend, securing the Owls’ first point with a straight-set sweep at the No. 1 position, 21-14, 21-13. Tulane tied up the match at one after claiming a two-set win on court three. Kate McLaughlin and Julie Honzovicova pushed FAU back in front, 2-1, claiming a two-set sweep on court two, 21-18, 21-19. The Sandy Owls’ final point came on court five as Kendall Mignerey and Shantel Starling clinched the win, claiming a three-set victory, 21-16, 13-21, 15-13, to secure the 2025 CUSA Championship.

• The championship marks the second CUSA championship and third all-time for the Sandy Owls.
• Mignerey and Starling were named the CUSA Pair of the Tournament and CUSA All-Tournament Team.
• Adams and Svozilova & Kate McLaughlin and Julie Honzovicova were also honored with CUSA All-Tournament Team Honors.
• The duo went a perfect 4-0 during the CUSA Tournament and have now tied the program’s single-season pair record with a 25-5 record this season.
• McLaughlin and Honzovicova also finished the tournament 4-0, improving to an impressive 13-2 as a pair, which ranks second on the team.
• Mignerey and Starling improved to 3-2 as a pair and finished 2-1 in the tournament.
