MORRIS — The Detroit Lakes/Perham boys swimming and diving co-op got a look into the future, competing at the Section 5A True Team meet at the University of Minnesota Morris on Saturday, Jan. 11. The Lakers finished the day in fourth place with a final score of 693. Melrose-Sauk Centre took the crown with a team score of 1081. ADVERTISEMENT The 200-yard medley relay team of Blake Swenson, Ben Mathiason, Alex Mack and Bjorn Anderson placed fourth (1:49.99). Anderson competed in the 200-yard freestyle, ending in eighth place (2:06.63). Mathiason swam to third place (2:15.45) in the 200-yard IM. Swenson secured a bronze-medal finish (22.86) and Henry Mathiason finished in 10th place (25.41) in the 50-yard freestyle. Neil Trowbridge made a splash, diving into ninth place with a final score of 227.85. Mack cruised to seventh place in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.01). Anderson ended the 100-yard freestyle in eighth place (54.34) and Henry Mathiason secured a 10th-place finish (57.24). Simon Runyan paced himself to 10th place (6:15.64) in the 500-yard freestyle. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Tony McLeod, Henry Mathiason, Runyan and Mack tag-teamed to a sixth-place finish (1:47.04). Swenson secured the only first-place finish for the Lakers in the 100-yard backstroke (55.99). Ben Mathiason ended the 100-yard breaststroke in third place (1:08.75). The 400-yard freestyle team of Ben and Henry Mathiason, Anderson and Swenson finished fourth place (3:37.84). Detroit Lakes/Perham returns to the pool on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Sauk Rapids-Rice for a Central Lakes Conference dual.
