To think: It was a mere two years ago when the credibility and humanity of Alabama’s highly ranked basketball program was up for national doubts and debate after the 1:30 a.m. shooting murder of young mother Jamea Harris was revealed to have been the work of three ’Bama full-riders — including Darius Miles, charged with firing the gun along with a childhood friend, and freshman superstar and projected first-round NBAer Brandon Miller, who was not charged but allegedly supplied Miles and his pal with the gun.

The hilarious radio team of the 1950s and ’60s, Bob and Ray — Bob Elliott and Ray Goulding — would present a satirical soap opera titled, “If Pain Persists.”

Thus the NCAA Tournaments, men’s and women’s, can’t make claim to such an apropos surname. But it’s the thought that counts.

Regardless, Miller soon became the No. 2 overall pick (Hornets). He’s out for the season after wrist surgery. He has been named in a wrongful death suit by the family of the murdered victim.
