BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M outfielder Jace LaViolette and left-handed pitcher Ryan Prager have been recognized as two of the top 100 prospects for the upcoming 2025 MLB Draft, as revealed by MLB Pipeline.
LaViolette, who was named a 2024 All-American, has been rated as the No. 2 prospect and stands as the highest-ranked college player on the list. Over 132 games as an Aggie, all as a starter, LaViolette has produced a slash line of .297/.433/.683 alongside five triples, 26 doubles, 50 home runs, and 141 RBIs. The native of Katy, Texas, has crossed the plate 137 times, earned 112 walks, and swiped 25 bases.
In 2024, LaViolette played a pivotal role in leading the Maroon & White to the College World Series Finals, posting a .305 batting average with 29 home runs and 78 RBIs. The junior also recorded 16 doubles, established a program-record with 64 walks, and scored the second-highest number of runs in school history with 87. With his tally of 29 home runs, LaViolette marked a historic achievement as the first player in Texas A&M history to record consecutive seasons with over 20 home runs.
Prager landed at No. 70 on the prospect list, ranking as the fifth collegiate left-hander. The redshirt junior recently completed an All-American season in 2024, achieving a 9-1 record with a 2.95 ERA, tallying 124 strikeouts while allowing just 20 walks over 97.2 innings. His 124 strikeouts rank ninth in the program’s history, and he became the first Aggie since Dustin Saenz in 2021 to exceed 100 strikeouts in a single season.
As a result of his performance, Prager was selected as the 81st pick in the 2024 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels but opted to return to Aggieland for the 2025 season. Throughout his Texas A&M career, the Aggie ace has recorded a 3.67 ERA and amassed 173 strikeouts in 154.1 innings pitched. The Dallas native has also contributed to the Maroon & White’s two appearances in the College World Series.
LaViolette and Prager are set to return to the field on Feb. 14, when the Aggies kick off the 2025 season at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park against Elon.
